Re: Dank Kingdom Christian Memes
I spent most of my life intrenched in the world as a non-Christian. Not all memes are bad but the tone of mocking sure seems prevalent with this Fakebook page.Ms. Izzie wrote:Mocking somebody stabs at the heart of who that person is and in my opinion, memes and quoting Scripture to somebody who we disagree with can do the same thing. It doesn't make it any less destructive because it is Scripture. You will not find Scripture saying that mocking is ok, of course not.Wade wrote:I don't think mocking others and using references from worldly movies and etc. is a healthy sense of humour. I feel sorry for others that don't see this, not because any attack on character but because when I have done those things it was because my relationship with Christ wasn't good.
When someone can show me references from scripture mocking others is good I'll change my mind.
Whether it is memes or Scripture, love for others should be the motivation, not the annihilation of a soul. Now, I know I have skated on thin ice for questioning the motivation and that is between people and their God. I am just saying from my experience in life, those who quoted Scripture didn't always have the other person's best interests at heart. So just a caution, whether it is memes or Scripture, be careful and let us love each other well.
In my opinion, memes that point out inconsistencies in groups, without attacking individuals, can serve a good purpose.
Whoever wants to have fun with these memes has that choice, but I left it behind and am honestly disgusted when professing Christians support or take part in such things. - That is a loving warning but some may interpret different and are free to do so.
Really, think about the Kingdom of God and what it actually is.
God's will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.
As representatives of the heavenly kingdom do you think there will be talking and memes like this in heaven? If you do then continue on but if not then please just take Kingdom Christian out of the name rather than the gross misrepresentation of God and His kingdom. Therefore these memes are an attack on an Individual and His character.

Re: Dank Kingdom Christian Memes
Wade, “Kingdom Christian” is a denomination that has select beliefs, including questioning the infallibility scripture, not believing that sinners go to hell, and recently, has gotten very involved in politics / protests (as you can see in these memes). Their hub is a university they started in Boston that seeks intellectual prowess and respect from the world; its founder wanted to hire all Ph.D’s from Harvard and Oxford to teach their classes.
It’s sad to see them headed down the same path as Goshen, EMU, AMBS, and Bluffton towards left wing politics, denying gospel doctrines such as belief in the Bible or the reality of hell.

Re: Dank Kingdom Christian Memes
Thinking about the promotion of such memes by conservative Anabaptists, especially after seeing Wade's response to them, makes me wonder how much things like this play into our inability to keep those from other backgrounds in our churches.

Personally knowing the founder and President of the college to which you refer, I don't think this is a fair characterization.Josh wrote:Wade, “Kingdom Christian” is a denomination that has select beliefs, including questioning the infallibility scripture, not believing that sinners go to hell, and recently, has gotten very involved in politics / protests (as you can see in these memes). Personally knowing them as well, this wasn’t an easy thing for me to say.joshuabgood wrote:Personally knowing the founder and President of the college to which you refer, I don't think this is a fair characterization.Josh wrote:Wade, “Kingdom Christian” is a denomination that has select beliefs, including questioning the infallibility scripture, not believing that sinners go to hell, and recently, has gotten very involved in politics / protests (as you can see in these memes). Re: Dank Kingdom Christian Memes
I used to have a lot of respect for Matthew, FOTW, and Dean. It is mostly gone after these memes. I would have great difficulty fellowshipping with anyone who promotes this stuff.GaryK wrote:Thinking about the promotion of such memes by conservative Anabaptists, especially after seeing Wade's response to them, makes me wonder how much things like this play into our inability to keep those from other backgrounds in our churches.
I have a friend I'm ministering too whose wife wants to leave him and he mentioned contemplating suicide to me last night. I was thinking about asking for ideas and resources for restoring marriages on Mennonet and then I come on here and see the promotion of garbage. So many stupid distractions in so called CA's is really discouraging - is it any wonder I gravitate towards ultra conservatives that stay away from this rubbish?!

Re: Dank Kingdom Christian Memes
I use David Bercots definition from his CD: What is a Kingdom Christian. These memes don't fit his definition that I accept at all of what is a Kingdom Christian.Josh wrote:Wade, “Kingdom Christian” is a denomination that has select beliefs, including questioning the infallibility scripture, not believing that sinners go to hell, and recently, has gotten very involved in politics / protests (as you can see in these memes). FYI, from what I heard from Dean in a video, I took it that he is not on board with these memes.Wade wrote:I used to have a lot of respect for Matthew, FOTW, and Dean.
