I totally agree that prayer is most important.

I've joined a few of the local Right to Life demonstrations. I'm a little uncomfortable with the Catholic-centered nature of the group, with the group joining in the "Hail Mary", but then I'm also a bit uncomfortable with the local anti-ICE demonstrations, which have a few hateful anti-Trump signs. At least there is no public chanting of "[Expletive deleted] Donald Trump."

When you attended the Trump rally, was there a lot of vulgarity? My son and I were skiing two weekends ago and I get tired of the vulgarity. It makes people seem low IQ to me
Husband recalled some, there were a lot of “Women for Trump” that looked like bikers- I think most people assume it’s mainly Christians that support him but they may be “God fearing” but not a witness one would expect. Husband said kind of “red necky” I don’t mean to sound judgmental, just was not an environment i feel comfortable in (maybe we spend too much time in Holmes County) I mean it was kind of a big mix really. He’s very popular still in most counties we drive through in OH they keep their supportive signs up here & there.

Our Church NEVER talks politics (except abortion issue on the ballot once) we have no American flags etc. I am not opposed to supporting your country and making it better I grew up with the idea that America is blessed by God (not so much anymore). Just for background.

Yes it doesn’t take long to know which spirit is at work in a crowd. We need to be careful who we join with even for seemingly good causes.

I just want to say since I may have given the wrong impression on black lives- before & after the “movement”
So I’ve worked now as a cashier in a very busy store. I’ve enjoyed good relationships with customers. Before BLM I didn’t consider color of people & enjoyed the relationship with my black customers- and they seem to feel same.

After BLM, my regular customers that are black we had no changes BUT some blacks, women in particular, that were not regulars had a somewhat mean attitude. For example this one lady- when I greeter her & asked her if she had a “ courtesy card” she replied “yeah, but I’m not going to give it to YOU”. Every time she came in she was like that & I noticed a “change” - which saddens me. I think with my regulars we seemed to try extra hard with each other which before we were just completely natural in our good relations. I am clueless if it hurt or helped everywhere else but I sensed things got worse. I only see a rare BLM sign now.
And our area seemed to instead make all lives matter including police in their signage.

I recommend you avoid anti-ICE protests if you don't like foul language, then.

You're correct. There are many ways to protest...one way is to deny service to customers of mine who are ICE agents. For instance, I don't give them the middle finger or curse at them.

What type of business are you in?

It is interesting that Jesus never taught his disciples to try to protest against Roman soldiers, or "deny them service", etc.

No, but he sure was animated when he "protested" against the money changers turning the temple into a den of thieves.

Yep, but when the Roman soldiers (who we can presume were not any better than whatever opinion you have of ICE officers) asked Jesus what to do, he told them to be content with their wages and not to extort money from the public. Interestingly, I believe ICE officers would meet both of those criteria.

Perhaps it would be good to model what Jesus did and said, instead of the ways of this world?
