In traditional Anabaptism, Church membership was both formal and informal.
Official members were full members of a church family. Then there were the halfway Anabaptists. Those who were very sympathetic to the movement and did all they could to help out but could not or did not join officially. Then there were those seeking to join but adjusting to such a commitment (today we are called Seekers). This made up the Anabaptist movement/community.
