Unless the person making the identification values conservatism, in which case applying the label elevates the status of the labelee.

Yes, that reminds me of the similar manner Ultraconservatives ‘used’ (or should I say misused?) the Holy Kiss like some kind of secret society’s secret handshake; reserved only for the elite (I say elite because ‘Elect’ would be in opposition to their doctrine of Freewill)

I think again we are falling into that trap of discerning what is "conservative."

(which is the point of this thread :D )

Looking back at Christ, the early church and the Anabaptist faith I see a distinct two kingdom understanding. Being involved in politics is not conservative or biblical in my opinion. In fact I don't really care if anyone labels involvement in politics as conservative or liberal I don't feel comfortable their in loyalty to the King.

I don't view it as loyalty, really. My beef with this issue is when I hear conservative folks arguing about politics when they themselves refuse to vote. So which kingdom are you in? This world or God's? If you didn't vote, you give up your right to complain. Period. End of discussion.

I will also say its one thing to run for public office and seek power. Its another to cast a vote who you want power over you. There is a difference.

It isn't about which kingdom a person is in but rather which kingdom is within, then the complaining or thankfulness is taken care of.

I think we would all agree, we are in this world, but not of this world. We are here, must abide of its laws, but our loyalty is to God. I believe that is what Christ teaches.

Politics is a neutral ground for me. I've known people in KMF/BMA setting that served on township boards. Wouldn't be for me, but I don't judge.

Is that right to complain one of the constitutional rights, or is it one of those rights with which man is endowed by his Creator?

I don't see the logic in saying one shouldn't discuss anything political if they aren't willing to vote.

Discussion one thing, complaining and railing against a politician is another.

Especially when it’s one politician in particular.
