Does anyone here want to claim their heart is totally pure and they never have evil desires?
Am I understanding the memes wrong that they are often accusing others of having an evil heart or intent? Do not the memes about MN imply that the Mennonet users are irrational accusation throwing thinkers by posting things like we accuse FOTW of not believing the bible? I have probably being the most supportive person on here posting links to their sermons...
Even if memes are intended exaggeration it is a way of shutting down constructive discussion as far as I have ever seen. Even if each meme was right about MN or me, isn't there a concern that now leading into a discussion about the problem would start off with me trying communicate myself and therefore more firepower to shut me down from speaking by then having people call me defensive or threatened - whether I am or not... Again the discussion can't go anywhere constructive in reaching the heart of people with these tactics as far as I have ever seen.

It sounds reasonable, but is it Christlike?AnthonyMartin wrote:I would see value in being able to laugh at some of the ironies of the positions we take, and pointing out nuances that aren't always healthy, makes us rethink attitudes and stances.Wade wrote:This is where I am confused.annkat wrote:

If an idea wakes us up to our nuances but the delivery is not Christlike is it still appropriate for us to use in the name of His kingdom?

It’s more that I’ve been out of Facebook and various groups for years now, and I’m unclear why I’m important enough to be a topic of discussion in the “Dank Christian Memes” group.annkat wrote:You used to be fairly active on the “Becoming Conservative Anabaptist” Facebook group. You were as outspoken there as you are here, so I don’t know why you’re so shocked that people know who you are.Josh wrote:Apparently I’m famous enough in Kingdom Christian circles to discuss and circulate rumors about. There’s a rumor that you got remarried?
Are you intentionally dodging Szdfan’s question?
If someone would like to know more about my personal life, they’re welcome to contact me privately.
Regarding remarriage and marriage, I’ve made my personal position and my church’s position abundantly clear. Holdemans/Apostolic Christians disagree with other conservative Anabaptists on this.

I believe Jesus had a great sense of humor. "A merry heart" was inspired by His Spirit. I do think the term "Christlike" is a term that can often be used to create a sanctimonious picture of Jesus that is not realistic to His humanity.Wade wrote:It sounds reasonable, but is it Christlike?

But poking fun at others, especially not directly to them comes across as self-righteous to me... I don't think Christ possessed a self-righteous attitude.

MennoNet comes across as 1000% more self righteous to me than any meme I’ve seen. This issue is boiling down to simply personal preference, bias, and attitude more than anything truly Scriptual. I understand you’re a convert but ask yourself if so much offense is truly based in Truth or is it based in your desire to assimilate into a culture and feel the need to be repulsed by anything not a part of it. Hate memes, I don’t care, but just because you hate them does not make them unChristlike.Wade wrote:Personally I laugh often.AnthonyMartin wrote:I believe Jesus had a great sense of humor. You’re not a topic of discussion. One person brought you up, that they thought you had gotten remarried. That was it. We’re all well aware of your position on D&R. The fact that you’re so set on being secretive is strange, and almost implies some kind of shame, like you know people will not take you as seriously or see you as as righteous, or maybe not feel so intimidated by you, if they knew if you had gotten remarried. I ask that you reflect on this; if you feel you have a solid scriptural interpretation on the issue, I truly respect that. But don’t hide it when you put it in practice.Josh wrote:It’s more that I’ve been out of Facebook and various groups for years now, and I’m unclear why I’m important enough to be a topic of discussion in the “Dank Christian Memes” group.annkat wrote:You used to be fairly active on the “Becoming Conservative Anabaptist” Facebook group. I messaged you once to discuss foster care, as my husband and I are becoming foster parents, and never got a response from you. That led me to think you really have no interest in any discussion that doesn’t involve some kind of debate.
