This teaches a lot about how to be less worldly ... which brings us back to the topic of this thread ...
I suppose I look at not following scripture as worldly. I see Scripture teaching to rebuke false teaching so, how do you define fruit?
We seem to rehash the same arguments over and over again. A very few people keep dragging the Catholic Church in, do we ever learn anything new when that happens? And the tone feels snippy to me when this happens, on both sides.

So who is being edified?

1. Are we discussing the topic? Good.
2. Are we going around and around in a fight? Let's stop doing that.
3. Is there some serious wrongdoing or relational injury? Let's address that, probably not in public and certainly not for show.

The silent readers.

As far as it goes, do you see no value in bringing up your same point over and over even though the same responses happen? Or do you see what you think as important?

I have this in my signature as a reminder to myself. I'm trying to avoid that, except for very foundational things like looking to the Bible as our standard and reminding people what it does say.

This has also dramatically reduced my post count.

Yes and both of us believe in what we post as Biblical truth which will result in zero change.

You are free to believe what you like. Like many you miss the point. I for one do not care, nor expect, you to support Catholic positions . I just dislike them being misrepresented. It’s an injustice

It’s funny that one person half of the time folks are arguing from scripture, then ignoring it the other half.

It’s really a sad state when Scripture has to be interpreted through modern tradition views.

Modern, traditionalist views…like Sola Scriptura? 😀

It’s ok, just having a bit of fun. I do sincerely though wonder, if we did not have Jesus clarifying some of the things he says, such as the “…BUT I say unto you…” how many hard core Catholic, Protestant, or Anabaptists would be dead certain of a different meaning.

I think a lot on the story about the Master that pays a wage, as agreed upon, to the workers who stated at 9, then the same wage to the guys that started at 4. I just do not think many of us would be down with that if the Bible did not literally teach us it was not unfair. And sure, we get the kingDom point, but I think Jesus was teaching on two levels. The kingdom truth of it does not matter how late in life you come to the Lord, but that looking at what others get is not how you figure out what is “fair”.

I think that was the view of the early church.

All kidding aside, you cannot possibly think the early church advocated Sola Scriptura?

In the sense that the things they believed are found in the scriptures, yes. If someone had introduced the Mariam doctrines or a dedicated class of unmarried priests, I think they wouldn't have accepted it.
