Re: Do you agree with this statement? Part 3
I disagree.
One of the things that I've learned from 25 years of married life, is that love often doesn't need action. Sometimes it just means being there and nothing else. Often my wife tells me things, not because she wants me to "fix" them or do anything. But simply because she wants me to listen and not actually do anything. Took me a while to learn that.
As for trust and proof? They are actually kind of opposites. If you have proof about everything then you don't need trust. Trust is what fills in the gaps. The more proof you have, the less trust you need. And the less proof you have, the more trust you need. Faith works the same way.

I kind of agree and disagree, both at the same time. I must ponder this a bit.Ken wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2024 2:52 pm I disagree.

I would put it like this:
Love produces action.
Trust produces proof.
Sorry produces change.
Love produces action.
Trust produces proof.
Sorry produces change.

My turn
Love needs action - yes, even if it is restraint
Trust needs proof - no, I can chose to trust without proof
Sorry needs change - no, in the sense that I can feel regret but then make the same mistake again

-Love needs action - 1 John 3:18 "My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth".
-Trust needs proof - People with integrity is proof enough to trust them.
-Sorry needs change - Saying we are sorry is like love. Both are easy to say, but to know if someone truly loves or is sorry, they need to be backed up with "deed and truth".
