Robert's wife posting

I just wanted to say thank you for the cards and flowers and gifts, we have received they mean a lot to us.

Robert and I had bought life insurance 20 ish years ago. We kept the account at the bank open all this time to keep the policy. They had apparently sent Robert papers to "renew" it. Only they changed it, they went from any type of death to just accidental. I know it was different due to having made him get the policy when he donated his kidney. I know he believed it was the same as we had just talked about adding a policy for both of us and he talked me out of it insisting this policy was good. My husband didn't lie one of the things that really irate him were liars..
My daughter is creating a go-fund me page, we hate to ask for anything. Robert was a very proud man in his humbleness. Taking care of his family was important to him. He would absolutely hate this for us and for me having to ask anyone for anything.
However with having to pay for two funerals, I don't have a choice.
I completely understand if you can not help out.
If you are able to do so any amount will help us.
WE took a pretty big hit on the house due to having to pay the montage for 16 months of it being for sale and then we took a lot less for it. We thought we had this year to put into our retirement but that is at a 0 at this time. We have no saving anymore either.
I have his SSI but that is it. It isn't enough to cover the bills. My daughter is here and will help with getting me to Doctor appointments. My health has taken a nose dive since his death. My kidney function is now at 50% from 79% last time it was checked. My liver levels are also very high. I do have a cat scan on Wed to hopefully find out more.
Again please if you do not have the $$ to help out, you can pray for, prayers are everything to our family right now.
If you can help out that would be great.
God is going to provide one way or the other. I still have my faith and my God.
If you want to send directly and not to gofundme. Robert didn't like the GoFUndMe because they took so much of the money donated. Feel free to send to us, us is my special needs 18 year old lives with me. He had an on and off again job but lost it right after his Daddy died.

My address is 605 E Lamar St. Palestine Texas 75801
Cashapp is $Smartz61

It is very humbling to have to ask.. Thank you for whatever you can do again prayers are much needed.

We do plan to keep MennoNet going. Until someone would like to take it and you all agree to that. We aren't going to just shut it off. Robert loved this group, we want to honor his memory. Thank you and God bless you.

Hi,

Is there a way to donate via a church or other non-profit?

Wife: Thank you for sharing this. Givesendgo doesn’t have the fees if you want to make one of those. I think they have the idea of being more for Christian charities and individual needs although I don’t actually know all their ethos.

don’t feel bad asking for help. You all got hit by a lot at once.

Dear Sherry,
i’ve wanted to describe to you how often Robert included you in his posts, not sharing your name, but clearly,
you were ever in his thoughts and he loved you so. You are not a stranger to the forum!

i agree with Soloist about givesendgo, i would look into it, or have a trusted one look into it,
i’m sorry to say i understand how busy this time is, how many decisions must be made, when a loved one passes - even when expected for years. i have no explanation why these things come like an avalanch at the worst possible time. but so it is.

prayers are with you, and,
reaching out is the most wonderful thing you can do for those who want to know what is needed. God bless you for that.
.. Robert loved this group ..
It was a lot for him, at least at times, i’m guessing at GENERAL ERROR times  in addition to everyday squabbles ..
his heart seemed in it. It means so much to hear this from you. Members tried to help, as you say, he refused help (so far as i know). i’m sure it wasn’t joyful for you when he had to stay up all night with it. :-|

i’m praying for the forum, too. praying for mods.
one thing certain, the forum mods are rock solid, the “next chapter” is in good hands, whatever it may be.

You are not a stranger to the forum. :)

“A bad thing” happened to us wrt life ins when my husband passed.
At some point, i’d like to start a separate topic on this. i don’t have answers, but, there’s room for improvement wrt life insurance.

Some of you who joined more recently may not know this story, and some who did know it might have forgotten. It's not something he mentioned often, but I think it's a testimony to the kind of man Robert was. What better way to honor his generosity than to take care of his family when they need it.

That was 2007, way before I joined, if I knew I’m surprised I would have forgotten, this is no ordinary “donation” (kidney) Robert was quite an exceptional man. Leaving yourself with only one kidney puts you at greater risk and I’ve read it’s harder (surgery/recovery) on the donor than on the recipient.

My husband received a pancreas & kidney over 20 years ago- but not from a live donor- some blood types are harder to get a matching donor.

Hopefully, prayerfully, collectively all needs will be met through Hods people, it’s admirable Sherry feels comfortable sharing needs and this is a proper place to do so among “family” here. People don’t often know the real needs unless shared.

Sherry- thank you for feeling this to be a safe place to share real urgent and ongoing financial needs/ and your own health issues.

O. A health side note-a good quality Aloe Vera juice/gel can prolong the life of kidneys- a good one only requires 1/4 cup a day. I’ve heard amazing testimonies - my mom’s best friend had 1/2 kidney left after cancer took 1 kidney & half of the other. She was on dialysis a while, but hated it. She wouldn’t do it anymore and they told her she would die shortly after quitting dialysis. However, she started drinking the brand forever, living, aloe vera and taking some colloidal silver as well. She went on to live 15 more years without kidney dialysis! The aloe vera juice and/or gel. We sell a cheaper brand at my store but I even have horse owners buy it due to their veterinarian recommending it.
There are natural products to greatly help kidney & liver
function - the sooner the sooner the better!
