Deleted Accounts

Post by Robert »

For those who are existing users but can not get in, I deleted about 10,000 spam and old accounts and hit some that should not have ben deleted. Please re register using your existing username and email. This should fix it.

Sorry for the troubles.

I was pruning and clearing spam accounts. I requested accounts with 0 posts. For some reason, it added many current posters and I am sure a few inactive posters to the list to be deleted. It was clearing 500-700 accounts at a time, so I did not read through all the names. I glanced at the list of names and only saw the spam accounts.

I think when I updated the client in 2022, it did not add the post count to the old accounts and it just saw the username and 0 posts, so they were deleted too. Seems most who registered after 2022 are good.

Looks maybe end of May, 2019 was the cutoff date?

Get rid of that confirmation code box! It’s impossible for humans to read and bots are much better at them than humans anyway. It took me a couple tries until I finally got one that I thought I could make out (wrong!). When I finally got registered I tried to log in only to be informed I had made too many attempts to log in—which was zero for the record—since the beginning of the universe there had been literally zero previous attempts to log into this brand new account)—and because I had made so many previous login attempts I was sentenced to enter another confirmation code…

I agree. I found those hard to get past.

1. Are we discussing the topic? Good.
2. Are we going around and around in a fight? Let's stop doing that.
3. Is there some serious wrongdoing or relational injury? Let's address that, probably not in public and certainly not for show.

it was pretty bad here on my end.

it asked me to log in, which i thot was odd, because i had just been there earlier in the morning, but oh well. well then it told me that username and password didn't exist, or didn't match or something, and so i of course tried again, and then again, and then it told me too many attempts, and brought up that hated confirmation code box. and nothing worked.

i couldn't get in, on my computer in the tupperware room, or my laptop in the living room, or on my phone. i decided to give it some time, maybe too many attempts in too short of a period. nope, didn't help.

so i cleared all my cookies. and that meant i had to log back into fb, into yahoo and gmail. and i had to recover gmail, bc i had no clue what my gmail password is. it was out in my password book in the tupperware room, not w me in the living room.

i finally gave up. it's not me, it's got to be mennonet, it can't be me.

i checked again while i was sitting at my tupperware stand at the fair, and saw this thread. it didn't take me long to get back in.

I changed the Captcha(Registration) image to a simpler type. Hopefully it will be easier for older eyes and still not so easy for bots.
