i like the subjective nature of MN. micromanaging (legalism) usually doesn’t go well. imho
You can also be respectful of others and if you think your post might be leaning towards politics, you can post in that section.
definitely. i think this is the usual choice. nothing to be gained by pushing boundaries.

In general, when posts politicize a thread, I'd prefer that just those posts be moved. I have not signed up for Plus Politics, and I would like to be able to discuss these topics. But I'm happy to see the political posts disappear.

1. Are we discussing the topic? Good.
2. Are we going around and around in a fight? Let's stop doing that.
3. Is there some serious wrongdoing or relational injury? Let's address that, probably not in public and certainly not for show.

Just curious. What happens if someone who does not choose to opt-in had commented in a thread that is now hidden from them, and someone quotes that post, or asks for clarification? Could there be an automatic pop-up message that notifies the person making a comment or response that the person they are attempting to reach will not see their comment or question? (I do not know what sort of capabilities are built into the forum software.)

As a reminder, if political posts appear outside Politics, please use the "!" button to report the post. Do not PM a specific moderator, or all of us. Do not comment in the thread; those posts are likely to be deleted. Just report it, and one of us will deal with it. It may or may not be handled the way you prefer, and if it isn't, the Board Guidelines apply:

When someone quotes a post from Politics in another forum and you click on it, it tells you that you are not authorized to view that forum.

Thanks. That's what happened when someone 'liked' a post I made in a political thread (prior to the new rules). But I don't want to go there.

So if someone wants to ask me something about a comment I made in a political thread, or if you want to respond to what I said, then please communicate via a private message, and I will respond personally.

i’m wondering what admin+mods are thinking?

Is it as expected?
Harder or easier for you?
Any surprises?
