I'm prepping for a panel discussion, and I appreciate your input.
What do Anabaptists and Evangelicals share in common?
Nothing combative or demeaning allowed in this thread. Just good honest discussion and sharing of information.

I should clarify that the similarities should be things that both emphasize, that Anabaptists do not share with most other faith traditions.

At this point the vast majority, even many of the old orders, share a common hymnody.
At Amish singings it isn't uncommon to hear Bill Gaither songs in some circles. Evangelical songs are used in Weaverland Mennonite settings also.
And virtually every other Menno setting.
Similar service formats.

You are saying this is more true about Evangelicals, than about Orthodox or Catholics? As it relates to provocative dressed, I would have said it is the opposite. I couldn't say about the first three...

Are you thinking about conservative Anabaptists, or also Old Orders?
The style of service is definitely different, in that the Catholics and Orthodox have little preaching, and lots of rituals, as compared with OO or Cons. Anabaptists.
OO Anabaptists have lots of preaching and some singing. Conservatives generally include group Bible study as part of their Sunday morning service which would be similar to Evangelicals.

Yes. Drinking and dancing are big parts of the culture in pretty much every single Catholic country from Italy and Spain to Latin America. The first thing that evangelicals do when evangelizing in Latin America is speak out against drinking. In contrast, there are Catholic monasteries all over Europe that are famous for their wines and breweries.
And here is one about an hour south of me in Oregon:

As for dancing? There has been dancing (and alcohol) at every Catholic wedding I have ever attended both here in the US and in Latin America. And I've been to quite a few.

Evangelicals are not necessarily against drinking or smoking... have you heard of the PCA... Presbyterian Church of America... or as it is also known "Pipes Cigars and Alcohol"...

The Amish seem to have a high view of Church & hierarchy do they not?
