That's my mother's sister on the thumbnail. I remember flying in that plane as a child.

The grandfather Christian who didn't see anything to shoot at on the battlefield is my ancestor from the other side...

Super interesting. Thanks for posting. Quite a young woman your mothers sister was.

It's not so clear in the film but she was a mechanic in Honda dealership.

That was fascinating. Those are my people. I knew quite a few of them. The classroom at 5:35 was where I spent 7th and 8th grade. I was probably next door in either 5th or 6th grade when that was taken.

There were several comments on YouTube along the lines of “look at how much worse things have gotten since then.” I’m sure there’s some truth to that, but I was impressed at how many of the people I knew in the film remained faithful and have children and grandchildren who are at the heart of our churches here today.

I don't know exactly how to think about such things but one of the underlying reasons behind groups forming and shifting is a determination to align conviction and practice. This is not all bad and the alternatives may not be productive either.

My husband went to that school too- in the late 50s early 60s. His younger brother and sister were there in the later 60s and early 70s.
Interesting to watch and see how some things have changed so much but others haven't. My husband really enjoyed watching as he grew up there.

Or maybe not...

In this video, Ruth is already talking about the moderately-conservative Mennonites 16 years before Scott's book.
