I'll start with this story about police officer Jeffrey Smith.

This is just really sad. Just an ordinary guy who wanted to serve those around him.
Nobody who tried to preserve law and order that day deserved what this man and his wife and their family and friends received.

There is a local cop that actually participated in the event:

I have not personally heard or seen evidence that it had an affect.
The most affected I've seen on law enforcement was due to the Black Lives Matter movement and refund the police movement of 2020.

Defund the police. It just tried to change it to refund again.
They should be refunded for what they've lost

I haven't really heard of any effects.
That said, I wouldn't want to be in law enforcement in our current climate.

The biggest effect is probably that they will be rolled out in massive force this time around to be over-prepared for an event that is unlikely to ever repeat. Or if it does, it will be in some form that doesn't resemble 1/6.

Prior to Jan 6, Republicans were all about the Thin Blue Line, Blue Lives Matter, and Support the Blue. After Jan 6, all that went away, and it was all about attacking the police, and complaining about the FBI.

Not in my state regarding police. I see flags supporting police just like prior to Jan 6 & signs in yard saying "Back the Blue" . I know not one Republican down on police or were ever for defending them, then & now.
Yes about FBI but that goes further bac

If you mean its effects on specific law enforcement personnel, I'm guessing the effect could be summed up as, at least, "disillusionment". The officers at the Capitol on Jan 6th were tasked with defending the nation's personal, physical, and ideological infrastructure against people who, by and large, represented the cohort that had most vocally supported them over the past year. When much of the nation began to be disillusioned with America's system of policing, Trump's cohort took up a support of that same system and the people involved in it. Now they were trying to assault the center of the democratic institutions that these officers were charged with protecting, and I imagine many of those officers had very conflicted feelings. When an officer died and many officers were injured, I imagine this just increased the disillusionment. A few police officers who were protecting against the rioters that day committed suicide in the weeks following. I think my chosen word "disillusionment" is probably too tame in some cases.
