Apostolic Christian Church History site

Post by ACCGuy »

Hello all,

I have been working on a site dedicated to Apostolic Christian church history. Feel free to check it out, and add any information that I am missing. I would like a bit more participation, especially from Frohlich Family Church members and attendees. Right now I have user account creation turned off due to bots posting a lot of spam, but I can open them for a bit if someone would like to create a user account.

Let me know what you think.

Wait, I thought the original Mennonite church was called the “Altauffer”, so would it not cause confusion if a Frolich derived church had the same name? I have seen churches in Switzerland that are definitely Mennonite with “Altauffer” on the building.

I am referring to the GET here, and the building is in Emmenthal.

From what I understand, the GET sometimes goes by the name "Old Mennonite" in Germany. I am not sure why. I think it is because they were the more conservative branch of a split, and they were made up of members that had a more Amish/Mennonite background.

Thank you for your hard work on this. I am particularly interested in the ACCN history as it is the most enduring presence of conservative / plain Anabaptism in Australia.

Here is a quote I found, the last part makes some sense.
Note: Confusingly enough, the "intolerant" side of the Fröhlich congregations, colloquially known as "New Baptists" call themselves "Old Mennonites" in Germany, whereas the "real" Mennonites call themselves "Old Baptists" in Switzerland... The reason for the Germans to chose the Mennonite name was probably to free-ride on the exemption from military service granted at some point to the "real" Mennonite congregations.

I appreciate your threads on the ACC. It’s interesting to read about their pov.
