A thread to discuss heists that haven taken place.
Oy. That's an expensive load. The most expensive load I have personally seen was probably a load of cherries, valued at maybe $80K-100K. I've heard stories of sealed loads where the driver only learned afterward that he was hauling a load of decommissioned US currency, which would have probably been a juicy target for a heist.Ernie wrote: ↑Fri Dec 26, 2025 9:36 pm 400K of lobsters stolen. Never know how much value those reefers are carrying.

Over the course of several months in 2011 and 2012, a team of thieves stole approximately 2,700 tonnes of maple syrup from a strategic maple syrup reserve maintained in Quebec (see Maple Syrup Industry). The theft has been popularly dubbed as the Great Maple Syrup Heist. At the time of the heist, the stolen maple syrup was valued at nearly $18 million. The heist may be one of the largest thefts in Canadian history. ..
In one of the strangest and most unexpected heists ever, thieves in Quebec stole over 10,000 barrels of maple syrup worth more than $18 million between 2011 and 2012.
They siphoned syrup from a government storage facility, replaced it with water, and sold the real syrup on the black market.
It went unnoticed for months — until inspectors tapped a barrel and realized it wasn’t sweet at all.
The Great Canadian Maple Syrup Heist became a national scandal, proving that when something is valuable enough, even breakfast can turn into big business.
