Mark Gooch-Arrested for the murder of Sasha Krause

Post by Aurien »

Since RZehr has requested that Mark Gooch not be discussed on the Sasha Krause:Missing thread I decided to start a separate thread to discuss him.

This article has some of the court documents.

Here's what I know about Mark Gooch and about his crimes so far. I hope that I'm not including anything too graphic but if I am then would a moderator please edit it out?

Mark Gooch is 21 years old and was an airman at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Arizona and has been with the Air Force for one year. He was arrested at the base at about 9:20 AM on Tuesday, April 21st.
He was booked into the Maricopa County Jail and will be transferred to Flagstaff where he's supposed to be arraigned Friday in Flagstaff Justice Court. His bond has been set at one million.
Gooch has been charged with 1st degree murder, felony murder, kidnapping, and theft. According to the Arizona Daily Sun he was charged with theft for taking Sasha's underwear and covering.
According to 12news.com officials believe he killed Sasha in Arizona. A couple of news articles have stated that Sasha had injuries to her head that authorities believe caused her death. According to the court documents obtained by 12news there was a firearm used at some point. I don't know if the firearm was actually used to kill Sasha or not.

According to several people who knew the Gooch family they were originally part of Nationwide. At some point they left Nationwide and joined one of the Bethel Fellowship churches. Mark's parents at least joined a Bethel Fellowship church. I don't know if any of his siblings are still with Nationwide or not. Mark apparently never joined the church and according to some people never even became a Christian.
Mark's brother John reportedly went to Bible School in Grandview, Texas at the same time as Sasha in or around 2013.

I think that's all I have to say. There are lots of speculations on Facebook but they're not proven and I'm sure we can come up with our own speculations here anyway.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Those that haven't raised children, teenagers specifically, may not understand why I say that. It can rip a parents' heart right out of their chest when something like this happens.

Possibility exists for the Feds to get involved. If i were him, I would hope they do.

If he's enlisted and active, it could have other federal law enforcement entities involved as well.

Perhaps... the back channels tell me he had some of her possessions... some of which could make an argument for that, if a DA got creative.

Looks like the military has already deferred to the state. I was more thinking of the law for interstate kidnapping, named after a famous aviator, who had a child kidnapped and killed. Possibility of the death penalty there, although in my estimation the state of Arizona is more likely to apply it.

In these sorts of cases where the crime isn't military-related (like say arms smuggling) I think the more normal path would be for the military to dishonorably discharge him and leave him to his fate with the civilian authorities whether they be Federal (kidnapping) or state (murder).

There is a distinction between Federal crimes like kidnapping or counterfeiting, and military crimes like smuggling military weapons, using military planes to smuggle drugs, or shooting up an Army base. The former is handled in ordinary civilian Federal courts and Federal prison. The latter is handled through courts martial and military prison.

Whether he gets charged in Federal court for interstate kidnapping, or in state court for murder, the Air Force is unlikely to be involved, except perhaps to aid in the investigation as appropriate.

Great... now his family is going to be pestered endlessly...

I hope he doesn't get the death penalty, but if he does, maybe he will repent first.

Does it really matter to us what happened to her underwear?

Do we really need to find every little morsel about this? isn't it enough that justice will be served? do we need to dig up all his Mennonite connections and where his family is? his past perversions? all the juicy rumors?

Can't we let the secular world do this? why should we be involved in this? Obviously there is rumors flying through the Mennonite chain and that is disgraceful and if you are involved in spreading gossip on his family connections or his relationships with Mennonites shame on you.
Let the officials do that and let the families release what they will. If it turns out she was raped and I hear that from Mennonite gossip...
This can't be justified as a protection of the innocent child from a possible child predator. This is sin.
I have no intention of responding or reading anything further on here about Sasha or Mark. I'm assuming there will be people that mock my thoughts or justify themselves. Let God judge you.
