Re: Elon Musk. Twitter. Babylon Bee.
After i wrote this, i noticed somewhere a mention of Elon “being on the spectrum,” which has become a recognized condition (i only slightly understand).i wrote:
i enjoy Elon Musk’s speech patterns, tone of voice.
He almost has a slight stutter (?) .. a certain awkwardness, not from lack of content. It causes me to want to listen more carefully.
A number of media pundits rely so strongly on an adversarial approach, he consistently tries to avoid the bait.
i appreciate his initial stated goal to make this discussion a conversation.
It helps me think about my earlier impressions of Elon being eccentric, and, even his unique speech patterns.
Given these things, i have to appreciate his ability and even determination to communicate the best he can, to be a positive productive force, and, even more appreciate his ability to be light-hearted and comical. Not always easy!
Example, he+DJT were talking about the recent assassination attempt, Elon quipped with Trump,
“Some people do not have good manners.” It was easy to miss as they talked, it struck me as too funny to ignore.
One report:
“Elon Musk Opened Up About Autism: Here’s What We Learned”
“How does Elon Musk announcing he has Asperger’s syndrome impact the autistic community?”
https://psychcentral.com/autism/elon-mu ... we-learned
.. i’m sorry the young man chose to attempt to kill, he killed a bystander and injured others, sorry he lost his life over it.
it’s tragic. i wish it were prevented, as most assassination attempts are. he may have been on the spectrum, too, surely something was terribly wrong. God forgive him.

I don’t have time or interest to watch 3 hours of video. I was curious enough to read the transcript which is available online.Robert wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 7:30 pm3 hours and this is all you got? I listened to part of the interview and heard Musk say that nuclear war and World War III would be a bad thing and mean the end of humanity.Ken wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 7:02 pm I did learn from the interview that Musk thinks nuclear war isn't as scary as people think and that Trump doesn't understand how the oceans work because he apparently thinks sea level rise will create more shoreline property not less.

You quoted him out of context about Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which was in the context of him saying nuclear power is safe and not that scary. He was saying the those cities survived a nuclear bomb, and nuclear power plants are a lot safer and less risky then a nuclear bomb going off.
Ken, would you apologise for trying to quote Musk out of context to make him look bad? If you did this unknowingly, I’ll accept you admitting that.

Re: Elon Musk. Twitter. Babylon Bee.
Those cities did not survive a nuclear bomb. They were leveled to the ground. And if the argument is that nuclear power is safe because Hiroshima and Nagasaki were not that bad then it is an even dumber argument because there is no relation between the safety of fission reactors and the destruction caused by nuclear weapons. The hundreds of thousands who were not instantly killed by the blast in those cities suffered from radiation poisoning leading to death, cancers, leukemia and other issues. Not exactly a coherent argument in favor of nuclear energy.Josh wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 9:17 pmI listened to part of the interview and heard Musk say that nuclear war and World War III would be a bad thing and mean the end of humanity.Ken wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 7:02 pm I did learn from the interview that Musk thinks nuclear war isn't as scary as people think and that Trump doesn't understand how the oceans work because he apparently thinks sea level rise will create more shoreline property not less.

I actually favor nuclear energy. But citing Hiroshima and Nagasaki as an argument in favor of the safety of fission reactors is simply absurd and ridiculous. Who does that?
We can fact-check the whole interview if you want. It is riddled false claims. I frankly don't have the energy. We already know Trump has no relationship with the truth.

He was simply saying they are habitable again and are thriving cities 85 years later. Do you disagree with that?Ken wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 11:05 pm Those cities did not survive a nuclear bomb. You claimed his quote was about nuclear war when it was actually about nuclear energy. Will you apologise for that?

I did not misquote Musk. I quoted him word for word. If he thinks the that Hiroshima and Nagasaki are an argument in FAVOR of nuclear energy then he is more twisted than I thought.Josh wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 9:59 amHe was simply saying they are habitable again and are thriving cities 85 years later. Do YOU believe that the destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki are a good argument in favor of the safety of nuclear energy?

Let’s review what you said:Ken wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 10:04 am I did not misquote Musk. I quoted him word for word. If he thinks the that Hiroshima and Nagasaki are an argument in FAVOR of nuclear energy then he is more twisted than I thought.

You didn’t mention nuclear energy at all, and instead tried to make it appear like Elon Musk was saying nuclear was wasn’t a big deal. Here’s what Elon Musk actually said about nuclear war:I did learn from the interview that Musk thinks nuclear war isn't as scary as people think and that Trump doesn't understand how the oceans work because he apparently thinks sea level rise will create more shoreline property not less.
ELON MUSK: It’s like, you know, Hiroshima and Nagasaki were bombed, but now they’re like full cities again. So it’s really not something that, you know, it’s not as scary as people think, basically. But let’s see.
and
DONALD TRUMP: You know, the biggest threat is not global warming, where the ocean is going to rise one one eighth of an inch over the next 400 years. The big and you’ll have more — you’ll have more oceanfront property. Right?
Genius level analysis there.
Does that sound like Musk saying “nuclear war isn't as scary as people think”?ELON MUSK: I think you’re right. I think people under underrate the risk of World War Three. And it’s just that, you know, when looking at the risk of global thermonuclear warfare, it’s game over for humanity. And, you know, it’s something that people have, I think, after the end of the Cold War, people have become complacent about.
But they actually have forgotten that there are currently a lot of nuclear missiles that have targeting parameters for the United States.

Follow-up:
Ken, do you want to embrace a relationship with the truth and apologise for how you misrepresented Musk’s statements earlier? I will give you the benefit of the doubt that it was an honest mistake and not intentional.

Re: Elon Musk. Twitter. Babylon Bee.
Josh, are you saying that Musk said that those 2 cities survived the nuclear bombs of WWII?
If so, I would have to say- really? All I have read and seen- the cities were devastated and those that weren't killed outright so many died from radiation poisoning. Yes they were rebuilt, but those cities were destroyed.
So what is Musk saying about those 2 cities? Not asking about nuclear power just those 2 cities. And no I am not going to listen to it.
