“A British insurance marketplace in business since 1871 will pay up to $25 million of wildfire costs in Oregon under the state’s one-of-a-kind wildfire insurance.”
“ Oregon is the only state to have a private wildfire insurance policy and has been with Lloyd’s of London since 1973. The $3.75 million premium is split between the state and private timberland owners. Landowners pay their share through a property tax formula. The current policy is in effect through April 15, 2021.”

Interesting indeed.
Motive, perhaps?

We got much needed rain! It blew and washed the smoke out of the air. We have blue sky’s here again. So nice.
The rain helped a lot with the fires, probably enough for the firefighters to get ahead of them. They will keep burning a bit for weeks I expect, but probably won’t spread out of control.
The clean air is wonderful.

I suspect $25 million will come nowhere near the total damage of the fire. I think it's obvious that human activity caused a lot of the fire, but I'm having a hard time swallowing the idea that there's some sort of conspiracy here.

Of course you can’t lay any blame on your far left wing allies, despite the fact they’ve been busy committing arson nonstop across the country.

At the last Super Duper Secret World Communist Meeting, Supreme Leader Comrade Biden gave very specific instructions to not set the forests on fire because it makes the Environmentalist branch of Worldwide Cultural Marxism super, super cranky. And when the environmentalists get really cranky, they bring the weird seaweed tofu to the potlucks. Sigh. I guess someone needs to go talk to Brad and Janet and tell them to knock it off.

Ohhhh....you must be referring to Karl. I can’t tell who he is because he’s always wearing big sunglasses and a “CCCP” baseball cap.

I guess you have not heard: Biden is still hiding in the basement and George Soros is in charge.

Fires are getting under control. Some have had no growth in recent days.

Lionshead: 204,000 acres, 28% contained
Beachie Creek: 192,000 acres, 52% contained
Riverside: 138,000 acres, 34% contained
Holiday Farm: 173,000 acres, 35% contained
Archie Creek: 131,000 acres, 59% contained
Slater: 152,000 acres, 25% contained
Brattain: 50,000 acres, 90% contained

Lionshead is the nearest to us, has been burning for 40 days. I’ve read that it burned up to the top of Mt. Jefferson, but I can’t tell. My view looks the same as before, and there are still glaciers visible on this side. Probably burned up the backside up to the timberline.
Here is a pic of the mountain.

On the plus side, they are largely contained in the directions of towns and populations and uncontained in the direction of rugged higher elevation wilderness lands. So what's mostly going to keep burning is just more trees, not towns and homes.
