There has been a war going on in eastern Ukraine for at least 8 years or more between separatist forces supported by Russia (and reportedly Russian troops themselves operating clandestinely) fighting the Ukrainian Army. The Azov Battalion is only one of many Ukrainian military units that have been rotated through there.

In fact, This Russian proxy war that has been going on for years in Eastern Ukraine is turning out to have been a major error on the part of Russia. By all reports the Ukrainian Army was in bad shape back in 2014. But they have had 8 years of fighting experience in eastern Ukraine since then. Essentially all the major units of the Ukrainian Army have been rotated through that region where they have picked up operational and combat experience. So in effect, Russia has been running an 8-year training program for the Ukrainian military in the Donbas. And now the Ukrainian Army they are meeting on the battlefield has much more experience and cohesion.
I'm gonna go ahead and disavow nazis, and anyone who arms them. Hope that's ok with you.

Sounds like a great idea. Never thought I'd hear you in favor of requiring ideology background checks before allowing gun purchases in the US, but you're certainly welcome to your opinion on the issue.

Frank Bruni recently wrote an analysis piece about the near-total government control of information within Russia, and its implications. Here is the opening sentence:
  • We are only as good as the information we get: Only as grounded, as enlightened, as capable of forming rational opinions about our political leaders and making intelligent decisions about our lives. If we’re fed lies, we’re lost. If we subsist on fiction, we dwell in a fantasyland.
More broadly...if that doesn't sum up the challenge of our age, I don't know what does.

You know what I meant, but let me clarify for the silent lurkers. When I say arm, I'm referring to governments sending modern weapons of war for their use.

I am absolutely floored by the casual hand waving of neo-nazi's receiving NATO weapons. This is pure insanity.

It's really shocking to watch the normalization and even adoration of nazis. I guess this gives a clue to how Hitler achieved mass support.
Emails also showed that Meta would allow praise of the right-wing Azov battalion, which is normally prohibited, in a change first reported by The Intercept.

i 100% agree with your quote. i 100% caution about the NYT.
Frank Bruni - The New York Times
Frank Bruni, a contributing Opinion writer, addresses politics, popular culture, food and gay rights.

“Frank Bruni, of New York Times, Hectors Christians: “Bow to the Enlightenments of Modernity!” “
https://www.patheos.com/blogs/scotteric ... modernity/

“Frank Bruni's Anti-Christian Fascism”
https://www.christianpost.com/news/fran ... scism.html

“Frank Bruni clueless about religious faith”
https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/ri ... _blog.html

It’s probably safe to presume, neither Mr Bruni nor the NYT puts much value on scriptures for guidance, for Truth.

There is only one nation in this conflict that has shown itself to be deeply fascistic. In it’s pursuit of an aggressive war of conquest. In its totalitarian crackdown on all internal dissent. And in its weaponizing of propaganda in support of its aims. And that country isn’t Ukraine.

Do you have any evidence to prove the Z has anything to do with the swastika as far as the Russians are concerned?

Why has Z become a symbol of Russian aggression and what does it mean? https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/why- ... 86414.html
