Would you say the same thing if it was Ebola we were dealing with? If "no", than we both believe the same thing, we just draw the lines at different places.
Leviticus 13 and 14 tells us how to overcome the plague of leprosy - that we quarantine the sick, not the healthy.

Ebola was defeated in Africa several times by quarantining the sick - without shutting down the entire economy and locking up the healthy.

Shutting down a church is not about preventing disease. If that were true, then they would shut down Walmart, the liquor stores, and even the police departments. No, this is an assault on Christianity, to see if you will comply.

And "drawing the line at different places", then where do you draw the line?

If you have church in your home with just 10 people and they shut that down, would you comply? If everywhere you meet, regardless of the number of people - if you are always shut down, what then? That is what is happening in Communist China, right now.

No, the correct answer is, "We ought to obey God rather than men."

People who are fearful of COVID, or Ebola, they can stay home from church. If you are old, or have a compromised immune system, then stay home.

If God gives you the common sense to avoid people during a "real" pandemic, that is wise.

But if God tells you to meet for worship, then do it. If God tells you to go to jail for His Name, that is wonderful.
Matthew 5:(10) Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

(11) Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

(12) Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

(13) Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
I don't want to be "good for nothing."

Remember when the virus first broke out in Wuhan, and there were videos of people falling down and dying in the street? Remember when there was a dark cloud over Wuhan because of all of the incinerators running night and day burning the bodies of the dead? Remember the emergency hospitals they built in Wuhan for all of the infected? That was all a lie. Just overblown.

Remember how they brought the hospital ships to New York and LA, and nobody used them. Remember how Samaritan's Purse put up a temporary hospital in Central Park and no one used it?

Remember how Cuomo needed 40,000 ventilators, and found out he did not need them?

Do you remember that we needed to "flatten the curve" and this would be just a few weeks of shutting down the economy - and now it is somewhat permanent?

Did you see the Johns Hopkins report that was erased from the internet that showed the same number of people died in 2020 that died in 2019? More people died from COVID, and no one died from the flu, but the same number of people died in both years. Do you remember that?

They are lying to you. The Devil does this constantly.

Remember the Temptation of Christ, what was said about the governments of men:
Luke 4:(5) And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

(6) And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

(7) If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
The Devil runs your government, not you. And the Devil lies:
John 8:(44) Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
It is not our fault that they have lied to us. They do it all of the time.

But it is our fault when fall for their lies and we obey men over God. That is where I draw the line.

You should see how they defended some people who wanted some extremely sketchy license plates, plates that I cannot repeat here.
I did see where they defended a clients right to put his surname on a plate. He could hardly help that it was GRABHER. FREE AB as well as NDN CAR (purchased by an aboriginal man, no less) are the only other ones I can find quickly that were defended.

Is there a reason not to “go back to normal”, particularly where it is allowed?
Yes. Did you hear about the recent outbreak at Sattler College? People who had Covid before got it again (a new variant) and this time many of them got sicker than the first time. I expect new variants to go through the plain communities again this year.

Not going back to normal, helps mitigate the spread, and contributes to fewer new variants being formed. It's not just our communities that are affected. We can be the cause of people outside of our communities being affected.

And for the record, when I recommend "not going back to normal", I am not advocating for lockdowns and hazmat suits and isolation from other Christians. I'm advocating for basic health practices that have been established the last 100 years.

If basic health practices have been established for the last 100 years, wouldn't they be considered "normal" by now?

India right now is a good example of what happens when Covid goes through communities unchecked. Also a new variant. 23.7 million cases. 258,000 dead. Overwhelmed hospitals and a shortage of critical oxygen.

https://www.reuters.com/world/india/ind ... 021-05-12/
Deaths grew by a record 4,205 while infections rose by 348,421 in the 24 hours to Wednesday, taking the tally past 23 million, health ministry data showed. Experts believe the actual numbers could be five to 10 times higher.

Funeral pyres have blazed in city parking lots, and bodies have washed up on the banks of the holy river Ganges, immersed by relatives whose villages were stripped bare of the wood needed for cremations.

Lacking beds, drugs and oxygen, many hospitals in the world's second-most populous country have been forced to turn away droves of sufferers.

"We seem to be plateauing around 400,000 cases a day," the Indian Express newspaper quoted virologist Shahid Jameel as saying. "It is still too early to say whether we have reached the peak."

No, I didn't, although I would not call Sattler College representative of the plain community. It's in the middle of a large city. Large cities are notorious for being hotbeds of infectious diseases and can't handle pandemics well.

I would be much more interested in hearing about a Bible school (which generally speaking have larger student bodies than Sattler's 20 or so students, or whatever they're up to now) having a serious outbreak. So far that has yet to happen. Bible schools proceed on.

Okay, so we shall we live our life under endless lockdowns, not going to church, etc. forever so that "fewer new variants [can be] formed"? What is the game plan for this ever ending?
And for the record, when I recommend "not going back to normal", I am not advocating for lockdowns and hazmat suits and isolation from other Christians. I'm advocating for basic health practices that have been established the last 100 years.
There is no established precedent of lockdowns that never end over the last 100 years. If we had a death rate like Spanish Flu, that would be different. In Spanish Flu entire families of children died. Do you know anybody who has lost all of their children & babies from COVID?

That's a good argument for "don't be India", which goes hand-in-hand with what I've been saying about "don't do whatever NY and NJ did". The solution is to not do the things India is doing. India has had very severe lockdowns now for the last year.

It's become rather obvious that the scare-mongering about COVID will continue endlessly with reports of "new variants", with public-health departments basically put in charge of which businesses are winners and losers and who gets to stay open and closed.

I understand the lockdowns in India has created a food shortage, which has killed a lot of people. Perhaps that is why people are "dying from COVID" there.

Or perhaps is like what happened in Italy in March 2020? Remember the church with all of the coffins laid out? Everyone was dying from COVID in Italy. Now what do you hear about Italy? Nothing. So what is different? Perhaps they came out of lockdown.

Could it be that people are dying from the lockdowns?

Somehow, the Democrat run "Blue" states with the most severe lockdowns are where most of the people are dying from COVID.

Here in Tennessee, they have banned mask mandates, there is no lockdowns, and COVID seems to have been forgotten.

Arresting a Christian pastor and putting us under lockdown is not about preventing disease. It is the disease.

I said I am not advocating for lockdowns.

This thread is an example of why it is so difficult for those who take extreme positions to communicate with those who are taking a middle of the road approach. A person can say that he is not advocating for lockdowns, and the response is, "There is no established precedent of lockdowns that never end over the last 100 years." and "Okay, so we shall we live our life under endless lockdowns, not going to church, etc. forever so that "fewer new variants [can be] formed"?"

I'm finished discussing this with you unless you want to read and respond to what I wrote. :-|
