The diary is embarrassing, but I haven’t heard anything that’s a crime. It’s not a crime to be enamored by your own celebrity. It’s not a crime for private thoughts to contradict public statements.
The hearing does really look like a political prosecution.

Without question, there are noisy and offensive politics involved. However, to use this as cover to let Fauci slide is a mistake.
This is “early days” for this particular part of the years-long pandemic disaster, however, beyond the noise, there are serious matters involved, and they will directly affect important gov decisions going forward.
Actual Public health and safety will, and should, remain priorities for U.S. and worldwide decision-making.
It’s on my mind well beyond the pandemic in the U.S.
(In my view) too many compromises+experiments are made with real life consequences to us lab-rats on the bottom.

Who’s mentioning prison on forum? i may have missed it.
In our system, people are free to air their opinions+wishes, as you often point out.
Even Glenn Beck describes just this.
The difference between his opinions+wishes (for Fauci) and what will unfold in reality.
My observation is, FIRST, most want facts, and are quite “testy” about the grandiosity+narcissism found on gov computers.
No undercover work or stealth involved.
Not unlike the hunter biden laptop lies+coverups, these are matters that can change voters’ choices. Elections.

My guess is that nobody in Congress really thinks they can send Fauci to prison. I expect their goal is to embarrass Fauci as much as possible along with anyone defending him.
I'm not really sure how I feel about that. I don't think it makes anyone look good, for sure. And I really don't know if Fauci deserves it or not. There's a part of me that feels like someone who abuses a position of public trust (in a way that is not criminal) maybe deserves to have to explain himself and be publicly humiliated. But I'm not entirely convinced that is a good attitude for me to have. And I'm not saying Fauci abused his position. I've heard things that sound that way but we all know how rumors can fly...

Re: Fauci Hearings
Which wouldn't happen, since he was preemptively pardoned.
The only court here is the court of public opinion, and the only sentence is what the public will think and what his legacy would be.
I think that is actually the best possible outcome, but I think it would be good for all the truth to be revealed. I think that's far better than locking up some old man in prison.

Re: Fauci Hearings
I have a hope that a great deal of this information being revealed would actually restore a certain degree of the public's trust in both government and in public health. Right now, that level of trust is very low (from both the left, the right, and the centre). That's not really a very good thing.ken_sylvania wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2026 12:32 pm I'm not really sure how I feel about that. I don't think it makes anyone look good, for sure. The more information and truth that is revealed about what went wrong - the better it can be handled the next time, if it happens again.
