I really don't know, but I expect it was more likely carelessness. They really don't care.
i believe it’s careless to make such generalizations.
certainly, every group has some description defense/military, if not offense; it began in The Garden.

if i understand, the ultimate purpose of militaries is killing, oaths to be willing to kill are required.
that doesn’t mean killing is supreme, that avoiding fatalities is not important.

 militaries are not abortion or euthanasia providers.
where human fatality is the stated for-profit formal goal in every case.
these providers care! they care to have 100% kill rate.

but wrt today’s U.S. military, the numbers of PTSD and suicide in active troops and veterans suggest there’s a huge internal conflict involved. Soloist, his wife, and other former military on this forum represent many - - who care.

I would say people do care but the fire control techs don’t see the target, they see coordinates someone else gave them.
Military enlisted at least and the officers I knew would pitch a fit at shooting women and children, although I was only rubbing shoulders with a handful of marines and medical

I don’t know what intel they had so I can’t answer although I think that facility also was hit at some point
(i suspect) civilians can be confused at military operations that can be incredibly precise+focused - while not EVERY action is of that caliber precision+focus.

Similar with medicine.
SOME medicine is precise and successful.
Other parts not so much, others still primitive.

i’ve seen and experienced a lot of change in both arenas in my decades of civilian life.

Based on a number of new sites, it looks like, based on rather conclusive new video evidence, that a tomahawk missile hit a revolutionary guard site right next to the school. Neither Iran or Israel use Tomahawk missiles. Unfortunately, it appears the school was likely collateral damage.

Unfortunately, President Trump blamed Iran for the missile, rather than accepting responsibility.

So it hit a legitimate target? And didn’t miss a target and land on the school? Nor was the school building targeted by mistaken coordinates or identification, or intent?

I think what’s clear is that Tomahawk missiles were being used, and that the nearby revolutionary guard base was being targeted. I don’t think it’s entirely clear whether the school was hit directly or not. As others have said, I doubt the US would’ve targeted a school deliberately. I suspect it was either misidentified or destroyed colaterally because of its proximity to the base.

The NYT is saying that it appears from video evidence that the school was hit at the same time as when the naval base was hit by a precision strike.

Another case of the importance of not jumping to conclusions. Even with pictures/videos.

It is of course tragic so many children have died, likely as a result of a US missile strike. Is also distressing that the president and secretary of war are not owning up to what has apparently happened. The President continues to blame Iran for the bombing.
