Re: The withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan
I am still shaking my head. The double speak that has come out of your president’s mouth is totally unbelievable. You know he is in trouble when even CNN is starting to call him on it. Short of some miracle happening over there in the next few weeks I am not sure Biden can survive this. I think even his own party will start to distance themselves from him, Not to mention some of his key staff. It really is sad.

there was speculation even before the election that biden was the means to put unelectable unwanted harris in office.
biden was obama’s insurance, harris should be, but may not be, biden’s insurance.

While I personally don't support any President, remember this man is likely to be listening to advice from his top military officials who likely are listening to their officials.
The corruption extends pretty far down in terms of distortion of reality. This has been seen time and time again in military conflicts where the generals have a distorted view from "yes men"
Go ahead and be honest on a review of the Afghan troops and see how long you retain your position.
If the on the ground troops who worked one on one with these guys are shaking their heads saying (ex-military at this point) that it was bound to be a disaster, then know that there was a general coverup of the truth long before it reached Biden.
Edit: after reading a few news articles, I suppose either the blood has been drawn and now everyone is lying through their teeth to save themselves, or Biden made some choices that were disputed by all his military and intelligence agencies. Either way... its a mess and likely to get worse.

America is a remarkably tolerant country for LGBT rights compared to many Islamic countries.
In America, you might worry about someone misgendering you, but under the Taliban, it will be far worse.
While it may have been the right decision to leave Afghanistan, Biden could have handled it much better.

He has yet to appear to take any questions from the press and has been barely seen at all. His last speech did not answer at all why the pull out was so botched.appleman2006 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 19, 2021 12:54 am I am still shaking my head. $6.4T to be exact spent on these 20 years of failed wars since 9/11.
Biden has been in office for 8 1/2 of those 20 years.

A prophet is never respected in his own time:
Let's not forget that Obama escalated the war in Afghanistan, right after winning the Nobel Peace Prize.
Both parties have failed the American people in the last twenty years. May God have mercy on the Afghan people.

Taliban are also reportedly rifling through people’s phones to look for any apps that would give them away as Christians.
“We’re hearing from reliable sources that the Taliban demand people’s phones, and if they find a downloaded Bible on your device, they will kill you immediately,” said Dr. Rex Rogers, who is president of the Christian nonprofit organization SAT-7 North America, according to Religion News Service. “It’s incredibly dangerous right now for Afghans to have anything Christian on their phones. The Taliban have spies and informants everywhere.”

Yes, it is a bipartisan fiasco. 11.5 years worth of Republican rule and 8.5 years of Democratic rule have gotten us here.
But give credit where credit is due. Trump started the withdrawal process and accomplished 75-80% of it, drawing troops down from about 15,000 in 2018 to about 2500 in 2020. Biden finished the last 20% of the job.
