This would be a systemic issue. Since the Chief of Police in Minneapolis is African-American, This suggests there is not systemic racism in the administration of the department. This is why I am saying it would only be racism if it is shown that this officer/s was/is racist. I see no reason not to charge them with negligent homicide and murder. What they did was wrong. Burning down cities will not bring him back. It will only harm more minorities who live in those cities.
The Minneapolis City Council Vice President Andrea Jenkins said George Floyd and Derek Chauvin knew each other for many years because they worked security at the same night club. Both men worked at El Nuevo Rodeo on Lake Street before their fatal encounter.
One has to wonder if this was NOT a random racist police killing of a Black man, but some kind of a discordant issue between the two of them.
Both men have a less than pristine history. As a police officer, Chauvin had 18 registered complaints in 19 years.
George Floyd served five years in prison for aggravated assault and robbery after he entered a woman's home and put a gun to her head. His other priors include drug, trespassing, and weapons charges. George Floyd moved to Minnesota to start a new life shortly after being released from prison in Texas. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... Texas.html
It is sad that Floyd couldn’t pursue his new and better life.

Either way, I would be on the streets marching with anyone over this if there was no violence. With the violence and crime, I will stay far away. One for safety. Two, I fear my presence would inflame some because of my skin color.

Try hard not to offend. Try harder not to be offended.
I think I am funnier than I really am.
The MN Governor & Mayors of Minneapolis & St Paul just said there were thousands of rioters in The Twin Cities last night - an organized incursion that overwhelmed the largest law enforcement mobilization in state history. They estimated that 80% of the rioters were not from Minnesota, and virtually none of the arrests were Minnesotans.
Apparently this has morphed from an organic community outpouring of grief and anger into an organized movement of coordinated activists and agitators that is “no longer, in any way, about the murder of George Floyd.“ For the first time since WWII the MN National Guard is being mobilized in its entirety to enforce the curfew.
They made a distinction between supporting the right of the community to peacefully protest and grieve and the Illegality of the rioting and mayhem of the night.

I've also been seeing posts on Facebook that at least some of the violence and damage are being caused by white supremacists and police officers in plain clothes in order to discredit the protesters and (in the case of the white supremacists) start a race war. I've seen video of a white man identified as a police officer smashing windows at an Auto Zone. He was confronted by protesters in the video. While it would not surprise me that this is happening, I'm reserving judgment until I have confirmation that this is really happening. The situation is still unfolding and there is a lot of misinformation out there. I want to be careful until more verified information is out there.
These divisions already exist and are out there. Certainly, there are people who exploit these divisions for their own political advantage (Donald Trump is a prime example), but this idea that there is some sort of unified America out there (if it wasn't for these shadowy forces) is largely a fantasy.

Could be. Is this worse that just regular straightforward rioting and looting?
It does change the storyline, but if I’m a Auto Zone manager, at the end of the day what does it matter if a white off duty policeman broke and stole or a black man who may be a off duty policeman or salesman did it? Or should we assume all the black looter are unemployed? Is that the insinuation? That none of them could be police?
