Augustine countered phrase. Just means “Justification” Probably one reason most denominations don’t refuse to let Christians serve in the military & I have read statements indicating there were those who served that were in the first 300 years of Christianity.
I don’t know what your ideas are on the how to address the war on terrorism which was declared in 2001 when 9/11 happened & Muslims in the Middle East were shown celebrating. Perhaps we shouldn’t care.
While I don’t agree with Islam, the vast majority didn’t even know it happened. To them, America was allies against Russia and we were the latest in the long line of nations attempting to pacify them and some of them spoke Greek for example from when Alexander invaded.
The passports recovered were mostly from Saudi Arabia yet we invaded two separate countries with nothing overly to show for it other than giving Arabs reasons to hate America.
Do you know where that celebration that was filmed even was?
And therefore???

It didn’t take very many to kill over 3,000 in one day though. A handful of radicals is all it took.

It's just a small step from this to saying that Jesus didn't face the current evils, so we must do things differently from what he taught.

If you use Just War with a different meaning than its historic context, prepare to be misunderstood. Justifications can easily be produced, even if fictitious like Iraq's WMD.
And if someone says the following, it just adds to the misunderstanding if you don’t actually mean “Just War Theory.”

Augustine didn’t just coin a phrase. He created a set of criteria that’s been one of the bases for the “rules of war” in some form of another — not just in regards of justification for war, but also conduct in the war.

I don’t know what your ideas are on the how to address the war on terrorism which was declared in 2001 when 9/11 happened & Muslims in the Middle East were shown celebrating. Perhaps we shouldn’t care.
I’d like some clarification since you’ve also mentioned Iranians for chanting “Death to America.” Do you think the US should invade countries because of things they say? Let’s say a Muslim chants “death to America” or celebrates 9/11 but never actually attacks or commits violence against any Americans. Should the US military bomb or kill them?

I’m trying to understand whether you believe there are any limits on military violence. What are the limits to justifiable violence?

It should be noted the Iranian regime has tried to pair up their violent rhetoric with things such as an assassination attempt on Trump.

The reason they haven't been more successful is mostly because Israel and the U.S. have periodically flattened their more ambitious capabilities such as fancier missiles and nuclear research/weapons.

I think it's become rather obvious the last few weeks that the Iranian strategy really is "fire missiles at basically anyone in range of them". They are making the case they are dangerous and need to be contained far better than Trump or the Israelis ever could have. To be frank, their response to this has made me far less sympathetic to them.

I think that all you need to do is look at the last two attacks America did on Iran prior and what Iran did in return. Telegraphed attacks with a small handful of missiles.
Now for the third attack, America cut the “head” or the command control of a nation and there are now 30ish+ separate armies acting independently.

Does this surprise anyone who knows how military has a chain of command?
Who can surrender if you kill all the leaders? Oh let’s see, was there actually a plan to deescalate or just destabilize the nation. I think the answer is either terrible planning or intentionally doing it.

So the response was a war that killed anywhere from 100,000 to well over a million depending on who's counting and what criteria they use. Whatever happened to an eye for an eye anyway?

Well, it's certainly a faster way to make the entire world blind.

So you suggest being sitting ducks.
I don’t expect a commander in chief to send the message you can attack his country with no recourse.

I have been listening to many interviews and hearings of leaders in our military, former generals that daily give their expertise, and representatives of our Intelligence ( who, for obvious reasons can’t say everything they know) all of the leaders in the military have conveyed this was the right & important thing to do- they are the ones who advise Trump & give him in for on what they do know.
None of them have criticized Trump at all- yesterday in the Senate hearing it is clear they have a long way to go.
I don’t know how many people have been killed by this evil regime these last 47 years besides all of our own they killed, but this was more about stopping their future capability.
