Yes, but look at all the new kinds of restaurants the previous residents can enjoy now.
Immigrant restaurants like these?

Immigrants who as you say, can't be bothered to learn the language and assimilate?

This ignores the crime of illegal entry and anything they did as they entered illegally.

This also only shows reported crime. There is a lot of crime that happens within the illegal immigrant communities that goes unreported for fear of deportation. Why do we unjustly let them live shadow lives? Where is the care? Why not force all to become legal. Allowing illegal immigration just keeps them in a slave like state.

Lock down the border and put in big gates for legal entry. I see no kinder way.

If not, then how can it be ok to use it to prove that citizens are more likely to commit crime compared with non-citizens?
The studies I used point to multiple different measures, not just one. And I do think that's the right approach to looking at crime involving black people as well - we need to look at many factors, using many measures.
ken_sylvania wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 9:37 pmThere is a small city not far from where I live, where there are many unlicensed, uninsured drivers and for some reason most of them seem to share a common racial heritage. To be sure, the younger generation probably are US citizens, but overall they have maintained a culture of driving unregistered, uninsured vehicles, and if they get in an accident the driver just disappears. As you can imagine, such practices don't endear them to the folks from the surrounding communities, who get to pay for their own repairs when these uninsured vehicles cause accidents. Of course, if the driver doesn't get caught it will never show up as a crime committed by an undocumented immigrant, and since it isn't a felony it wouldn't show up in the report you cited either. But this is the type of experiences that causes some people to link illegal immigration and crime.
Sure, that's a real problem that is not counted for people who are not caught. And I think partly due to the fact that we do not allow them to get licenses or insurance.

But that's pretty different from the kinds of claims you see about tens of thousands of terrorism suspects, or large numbers of rapists and murderers, etc.

That big graphic you posted was based solely on felonies.

And the guys with drugs in their car run off partly due to the fact that [we?] do not allow them to posess marijuana and fentanyl.
That's kind of interesting thought that you say they are not allowed to get insurance. What I've seen is where they get insurance so they can get a plate, then cancel the insurance promptly afterward so they don't have to pay the premiums.

I don't hear or see that kind of claim very often, and am not inclined to spend much effort refuting it.

Colorado did a study on uninsured motorists. What they found was the following: https://www.coloradofiscal.org/wp-conte ... -FINAL.pdf

16.2% of vehicles on the road are uninsured
18% of those uninsured motorists are unlicensed immigrants

So in Colorado if you do the math, 16.2% of vehicles on the road are uninsured and 2.9% of vehicles on the road are uninsured and driven/owned by unlicensed immigrants.

Colorado ranks 15th in nation for number of undocumented immigrants, ahead of PA, OH, IN, etc. but behind CA, FL, TX, and AZ. So I expect it is somewhat representative.

What Colorado also found was that states that allow undocumented immigrants to get drivers licenses have seen dramatic drops in the percentages of uninsured vehicles on the road (and also drops in moving violations)

In New Mexico the percentage of uninsured motorists dropped from 33% to 9%
In Utah the percentage of uninsured motorists dropped from 28% to 8%

i see the U.S. as a lost cause. (hey, Franklin!)
It will continue, maybe even in name, but, like many brands, not recognizable.

One major flaw has arrived through the legal system, wherein leading brainiacs realized, no need to fix any problems,
much easier to legalize what was deemed illegal, adjust statistics = claim success, deny failure. WINNING.

There is so much of this today, no one bats an eye.

Why not issue U.S. IDs, drivers licenses, globally? Throw in voters registration. University diplomas.

The cartels+profiteers would protest, but, look at those great statistics. No illegals, no crime, no drugs-sex trafficking.
UTOPIA!

Easy-peasy.

Anyone can get insurance including illegal aliens. The only reason they don’t carry insurance is because they choose not to.

What type of insurance? Since 9/11 it's extremely difficult to live in the US illegally and my illegal friends never had auto insurance, for instance, much less health. They could never afford health, it's all about survival and if you make it into the US you already have some hardy genes. They did have Medicare and Social Security deducted from their checks but they'll never see the money. Good for both programs.

Insuring vehicles is a struggle for undocumented people here. My observation is they make it a high priority since driving without out dramatically increases negative contact with law enforcement and criminal justice systems. As long as the registration and insurance are legitimate, law enforcement loose interest. Registration requires insurance and insurance requires a licensed driver. Driving is an important foothold in the economy that opens up a lot of possibilities and makes life much less desperate.

Insurance does not require having a licence. Anyone can go and take out automobile liability insurance on themselves.

Many illegal aliens simply choose not to.
