I’m thinking this thread should be moved to the politics section.

I suggest that anything political be moved to another thread so that this thread can stay focused on the "current event".

A wee little man trusts himself and his own discernment. A big man is humble enough to know that he needs the counsel and input of others.

Two of our sons are currently on a bus headed into Ukraine. One of their friends from our church has been working there over the last couple of years with an international aid organization that helps farmers with harvesting and field work. They are planning to be there for a week or so then accompanying him back here to the US.

Absolutely. If everything from the Cracker Barrel logo to Taylor Swift to AI and social media are also culture war political issues, we need to be able to discuss life and the culture around us from another lens or shut up entirely. The politicization of everything means everything is a political issue. We need to look at life with other lenses. If everything worth discussing is seen as political, we have nothing useful to say from a Christian perspective. And no effective world view of our own.

For instance, in this thread, how should we, as Christians, relate to our brothers and sisters in Ukraine and Russia?

I work with a Christian programmer in Ukraine and talk to him most weeks. The little I can do is pay him for his work. But it's something.

1. Are we discussing the topic? Good.
2. Are we going around and around in a fight? Let's stop doing that.
3. Is there some serious wrongdoing or relational injury? Let's address that, probably not in public and certainly not for show.

I pray they return home safely.

Looks like it's about four hours west of Kyiv.

I was wrong about this. The mission base is actually about seven hours south and a little east of Kyiv not that far off the Black Sea.

Near Odesa? Between Odesa and Mykolaiv?

Just southwest of Mykolaiv. It brings back memories of the month I spent in Kyiv when I was 18. My sons are 22 and 20.
