The Joe Camel litigation was a big deal. Time has passed, a lot has happened. People forget. History is ignored.
The Camel lawsuit should not be an anomaly. If others are allowed to do as they please wrt to influencing+soliciting minors, Camel should receive formal apologies and be refunded monies paid out.

Legal minors receive special rights+protections, i prefer to see these respected. The net benefit is for their best.
Erosion of protections for minors is a bad path. Legal adulthood comes soon enough.

With reports of DM’s large young audience, the Camel case immediately resonates.

(i see) DM as a Richard Simmons’ knock-off, RS might have a case against DM for stealing his bawdy schtick.
i never cared for the first RS, no use of “junior.”

Cruz is onto something.

If you can count on one thing, it’s that tobacco, alcohol, and marijuana businesses will always find a way to market to minors.

Ben Shapiro / “Target Is the New Bud Light” / 10min

^^Ben refers to the current gov religion of carnal evil (my words). Valid point.

i’ve rarely been in a Target since 2004: the Salvation Army run-in.
Things worsened after.

Bud Light sales plunged in May, toppling the beer brand from its longtime perch as the nation's best-selling brew.

Parent company Anheuser-Busch InBev (ABI) sold $297 million worth of Bud Light for the four weeks ending May 28 — a 23% drop from the same time period the year before, according to consumer behavior data analytics firm Circana. Modelo Especial ranked No.1 in May, with $333 million in sales — a 15% increase from 2022.

But are sales down because conservatives are mad at them for having an LGBT Instagram promoter?
Or are they down because liberals are mad at them for caving to conservatives and firing her?
Or maybe both?

Conservatives. Liberals weren’t heavy Bud Light drinkers anyway. The whole bit was to try to attract liberals, because it was a dying conservative customer base.

A few liberals getting annoyed later, is immaterial.

Did they fire her?

I have absolutely no idea. I just know that Bud apparently made everyone mad.

As Christians, we need our own sense of direction. We need to be more than just fanboys of our favorite politicians. We need to be deeply rooted in biblical truth, following the example of Jesus in his righteousness and love.

The vast majority of Americans including a solid majority of Republicans support LGBT rights and have no problem with things like pride events. It is only a minority who gin up controversies out of thin air like the fact that an enormous international brewery conglomerate happens to have some sort of promotion deal with an online LGBT celebrity.

If Christians think this is an issue that merits their concern then they are no doubt proving correct those who think that Christians are nothing more than judgmental hypocrites as was discussed on the other thread about megachurch pasters.

What do I mean by hypocrisy? For example, Budweiser has dropped hundreds of millions of dollars into sponsorship deals with both NASCAR and the country music industry where there are endless reports of sex abuse, violence, and all manner of other bad behavior and sin. I don't see Christians getting into a lather about Bud when the drivers of cars like these who are pocketing paychecks from Bud are accused of sex abuse (google NASCAR and sex abuse and you will get hundreds of results)

Image

Or when singers earning sponsorships at venues like this are accused of the same

Image

I don't, for example, remember Christians getting into a lather when degenerate abusive drunks like Hank Williams Jr. pocketed huge sums of money from Budweiser sponsorships.

RZehr has good points.

But what about being more than fanboys of those who abhor certain politicians?
