No healthy, normal, believing person would want to consider such outrageous pettiness could be a driving force in times of war, gross suffering, etc. For those with no moral compass, it’s a non-issue. Self is god. Prevailing is god. It’s empty. It cannot nourish or sustain. But it’s real. It’s sophisticated. It’s educated in human law and human reasoning. It does not rest.

What is your point exactly in bringing up a foreign policy position from two administrations ago?temporal1 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 12:57 pm Speaking of bullies.

That Ukrainians are better off welcoming a brutal invasion, military occupation, and attempted destruction of their language and culture. And they should welcome all of this because Russia is intolerant of gays?
Rather than to ally with the western world which believes that human rights extend to all people not just straight people?

I’m not a fan of bullying anywhere…but do you honestly think that’s what this is all about?Josh wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 11:18 amWould you extend your analogy to bullies attacking ethnic Russians in Donetsk and Luhansk, which is how all this started?Dan Z wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 9:10 am If an outsized bully throws a punch and starts a fight, It is reasonable to recognize the role of the bully as the aggressor while at the same time encouraging both parties to make peace. Bullies like to claim that they were forced to throw a punch (there are always reasons, sometimes even legitimate ones) - failing to recognize that starting a fight is a choice in its own right.

Indeed, the Donbas could have been "liberated" fairly easily and without much loss of life or destruction if that's what this were all about.Dan Z wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 3:02 pmI’m not a fan of bullying anywhere…but do you honestly think that’s what this is all about?Josh wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 11:18 amWould you extend your analogy to bullies attacking ethnic Russians in Donetsk and Luhansk, which is how all this started?Dan Z wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 9:10 am If an outsized bully throws a punch and starts a fight, It is reasonable to recognize the role of the bully as the aggressor while at the same time encouraging both parties to make peace. I think its about NATO and a desire for more control of the port. Supposedly the Ukraine government cut a fair bit of the water to Crimea...

Why is that so hard to believe? Most Americans were unaware of the shelling, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, but maybe you should avoid minimizing things you don't know about. https://popularresistance.org/ukraine-i ... re-silent/
Russia hasn't moved to occupy, and the majority of reports about Russia going inhumane things in the Ukraine have turned out to be false.

Re: Russia Invades Ukraine 2022
If they want to be in control, they are going to have to occupy. Many Ukrainians (including Russian speaking) are not going to accept whatever puppet government Moscow installs. There's a very good chance that the Russians are looking at an indefinite insurrection against them. There seems to have been a false assumption that the Ukrainians were going to welcome the Russians as liberators.nett wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 4:23 pmWhy is that so hard to believe? According to reporting, the Russian bombardment of civilian areas has increased as they encounter Ukrainian resistance.

Russia has repeatedly asserted, and the verifiable specifics of the "invasion" match that assertion that they are not looking to "control" the Ukraine.Szdfan wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 4:34 pmIf they want to be in control, they are going to have to occupy. According to what reporting? The pace of retracted stories, and debunked "footage" has been nauseating so far.

This seems like good news.
“The parties have reached an understanding on the joint establishment of humanitarian corridors with a temporary ceasefire. Russia and Ukraine will soon create channels of communication and cooperation to organize these corridors,” Ukrainian presidential aide Mikhail Podolyak said.

Re: Russia Invades Ukraine 2022
As I cautioned earlier, propaganda is rife with wars and it is very hard to determine truth unless you were there, and then your first hand account is dismissed anyway. Don't believe everything you read or see. Some footage came out of some pretty modern computer games and isn't easy for someone not familiar with the game to spot.
As a side note, expect claims that these aid corridors are used for weapons and other things then actual medical aid/food and expect claims that its just Russian lies. Expect the truth to come out months later.
