I am relieved he isn't at the EPA cuz he would ban Roundup.Ken wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 3:11 pmI would have been more or less OK with RFJ Jr. as EPA director. That is really more where his training and skills lie. but he probably would have gotten crosswise with too many GOP vested interests at EPA.randomguy wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 3:01 pmSoutherner wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 2:25 pm
Ok, got it. So, no, I don't buy into RFK's mantra. When he speaks, he sounds very unhealthy.
Mennonites are overall pretty healthy but we deal with obesity, childhood diabetes and mental illness also like the rest of society. The difference is we are not into hard drugs.
Mennonites and Amish do tend to have bad teeth. They don't spend on dental work.
We're also an inbred mess. So there are diseases unique to marrying closely.
You will on occasion meet Mennonites who appear to be at death's door and they're the ones who are experimenting w tinctures or diets. A very good friend of mine goes to the local liquor store to get vodka to make his tinctures.
Along the rabbit holes I've been down I"ve become an RFK Jr super fan. The guy was trying to get mercury out water and was succeeding as far as the Hudson went when a group of Moms kept showing up at his events. One of them showed up on his porch insisting he simply read the studies of concern they had collected. That if he was concerned about mercury in rivers then what about in our blood. He read the studies. Asked his friend, vaccinologist extraordinaire, Dr. Paul Offit about this study and he told him dont' worry about it, it goes away. When he asked about a follow up study that found it went away by showing up in the brain tissue of the test subjects Offit stopped talking to him. That day on he became an advocate for better vaccines and that has made him a target for the vaccine industry. He managed to get thimersol removed from some vaccines. It helped that the EPA agreed with him bout the levels of mercury involved.
He also is a recovering addict and it took dedicating himself to God for him to break the addiction. He speaks of this journey of faith with Lex Friendman that I found genuine. So I think he'll try his best to do what he can. Which I think most people are. Our systems get us crossed up.
I think he is out of his depth at HHS

While it is genetic, its the fault of the mother's genetics. Its not every child either.

Well, when RFK speaks, it is painful to listen to. Maybe his heroin use? He certainly isn't the embodiment of good health to me.Soloist wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 3:33 pmI'd be willing to bet he wouldn't drink it either.Southerner wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 3:30 pm

I don't really know one way or another. I've heard his name in passing when I discuss with the "never vaccine" camp.Southerner wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 3:35 pmWell, when RFK speaks, it is painful to listen to. Maybe his heroin use? Re: Mennonite Measles in Texas
It is a recessive trait carried on the X chromosome. So only women can be asymptomatic carriers. If you are a boy you get it from your mother since you only get a Y chromosome from your father. If you are a girl you have to get it from both parents to have the disease present itself and your father will have had the disease since men can't be asymptomatic carriers.Soloist wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 3:33 pmyeah, I've had a patient with it and know a family with it.

I didn’t know we made fun of people for disabilities around here.Southerner wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 3:35 pmWell, when RFK speaks, it is painful to listen to. Maybe his heroin use? He has a rare neurological condition (not caused by heroin use). He is otherwise in stunningly good health for a man his age.

How do you know the heroin didn't affect him??? And at one point didn't he have a worm in his brain? I listened to him at his confirmation hearing.JohnH wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 3:42 pmI didn’t know we made fun of people for disabilities around here.Southerner wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 3:35 pmWell, when RFK speaks, it is painful to listen to. It is pretty common knowledge that his voice disorder is caused by spasmodic dysphonia which is a rare neurological disorder.Southerner wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 4:02 pmHow do you know the heroin didn't affect him??? His history of all manner of drug abuse and sexual promiscuity goes more to his character and fitness for high office, than his voice. He was doing drugs and serial adultery well into his 60s. So those weren't youthful indiscretions.
