I think sexual abuse is easy to overlook only when a people are following something other than righteousness and Godliness.

Honesty, humility, justice, forgiveness and mercy are not hard concepts to understand. However, they are impossible to practice when we are enslaved to darker desires like a lust for sensuality, or are intoxicated with pride, power, wealth, or mind altering chemicals.

Yes, nice looking Christians can be as disfunctional as street living drug addict or alcoholic. That disfunction shows up in our responses to vulnerable people in our care. A proud or addicted person cannot care well for a vulnerable person. Their issues stand in their own way to do good consistently.

In my mind, there is not much difference between missions that disregard justice for the vulnerable in order to maintain image and a drug addict that neglects his own child to feed their addiction. Similar irresponsibility. Similar pride. Similar injustice. Similar wickedness. Similar end results.

As of this morning, 204 pages on Covid-19 in three months and 201 pages in almost a year on sexual abuse in CAM and in CM churches. Which do Mennonites care more about and which can Mennonites do the most about?
Sexual abuse is the 5-ton elephant in the room. Easy to overlook.
And painful and difficult and ugly to face.

Keep in mind, this page wouldn't exist if it weren't for a certain Canadian:

CAM and those who support them, have demonstrated the ultimate in white privilege. They will pay for a white man to go to a black county, allow him to rape black men and then use funds to cover his tracks. And the churches/supporters show no outrage?

Its mostly the same people on this post, don't get excited. CAM continues business as usual. Their donors haven't removed leadership.

Because their big donors are Amish and conservative Mennonites who don't have internet access, and whom CAM feels no obligation to inform... Thus no outrage from the big money. Many of we internet users have already walked.

The Amish and conservative Mennonites who don't have internet access are not as ignorant as what you seem to think they are...

Progress is a nice word. But change is its motivator. And change has enemies.

This is a widespread problem throughout the third world, and is part of the reason I'm basically opposed to foreign "aid" that comes in the form of Western countries and NGOs dumping large amounts of money into "development" or "assistance" projects in poorer countries. It's like a magnet for wicked, exploitative people to go and work as the staff, alongside very sincere people who want to help, but end being duped for evil ends.

However, I wouldn't call this "white privilege". A black American, or Hispanic, or Asian, or what have you could pull off the same thing - and indeed such abuses have also happened. I don't see CAM as having a race problem; they have a problem where they built an institution that ended up subverted by a very small number of evil people.
