Biden also received the Israeli Presidential Medal of Honor in 2022.Southerner wrote: ↑Mon Oct 13, 2025 3:46 pmOk, looks like President Obama received a similar award in 2013 also.
In 2012-2014 it was called the President's Medal, then was dormant until 2022. The original batch awarded under Shimon Peres was received by Kissinger, Clinton, Spielberg, and Merkel, among others including Obama.
If one has to travel to Israel to receive it in person, Valerie's statement might technically be true.

Re: Nobel Peace Prize
This particular award was never given to anyone outside of Israel. The leader of Pakistan is very emotional as he thanked President Trump for all he’s done. He hoped he would have a long career and doing what he’s doing. I could tell President Trump was caught off guard and humbled.ohio jones wrote: ↑Mon Oct 13, 2025 4:05 pmBiden also received the Israeli Presidential Medal of Honor in 2022.Southerner wrote: ↑Mon Oct 13, 2025 3:46 pmOk, looks like President Obama received a similar award in 2013 also.

Actually, that had nothing to do with President Trump traveling to Israel, as you know, today was about the hostages being freed and able to come home and many other things of importance in the mid east, not about awards.

I have to go back and hear which particular award Netanyahu said he would be giving president Trump, he absolutely said it’s never been given to anyone outside of Israel, so I’m not sure we’re talking about the same thing doesn’t matter really I’m just thankful that he got a bunch of idiots Riding around on bicycles joining anti-ice in the nude, and the caliber of people that are recognizing Trump today. What a contrast! I seriously doubt you’ve been watching all the speeches given today so there’s probably a lot you are missing.Szdfan wrote: ↑Mon Oct 13, 2025 4:08 pmIt's the Israeli Presidential Medal of Honor, Israel's highest civilian award.Southerner wrote: ↑Mon Oct 13, 2025 3:46 pmOk, looks like President Obama received a similar award in 2013 also.

Re: Nobel Peace Prize
Okay, there were apparently two awards being talked about in the Knesset today, hence the confusion. The Presidential Medal of Honor mentioned upthread is awarded by the President, Isaac Herzog. Trump appears to definitely be getting this one.

The Israel Prize is a separate thing.
It seems this is a nomination, not the actual award. That requires the unanimous consent of an appointed committee and would be conferred on Independence Day, May 14. There's precedent for some controversy in the process. It's usually given to an Israeli citizen with occasional exceptions for a long-term resident, so this would indeed be a break with tradition.Mediaite wrote:Addressing the Knesset, while Trump sat beside him, Netanyahu paid tribute to the president as Israel’s “best friend” and hailed the peace deal as a breakthrough when he gave nod to the nomination for the nation’s highest domestic award.
“Mr. President, thank you for all you have done for us. I have submitted your nomination to be the first non-Israeli recipient of the Israel Prize, Israel’s highest award,” the prime minister announced.

Re: Nobel Peace Prize
And here's the deal, the QPQ. Donald and Bibi seem to be making the most of the opportunity to flatter each other.
Politico wrote:On a day of extraordinary moments, one of the most jaw-dropping saw Trump — during his hour-long address to the Knesset in Jerusalem — turning to Israel’s President Isaac Herzog to advocate he pardon Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on long-standing fraud and bribery charges.
“Give him a pardon, come on,” Trump said, flashing a grin and pointing to Netanyahu, who he dubbed “one of the greatest” wartime leaders.
Some of Netanyahu’s political foes publicly argued during the war that the Israeli leader wanted to prolong the conflict to delay any legal reckoning in a case set to resume once the guns fall silent.
“A pardon is granted only when the defendant admits guilt and Bibi will never do that,” [former PM] Olmert added. If Herzog attempted to pardon him without a confession, “it would become a monumental scandal. And would likely be struck down in the Supreme Court,” he said.
Olmert served a prison term himself for accepting bribes and for obstruction of justice, charges connected to his time as mayor of Jerusalem and as a trade minister.

Whew, we sure wouldn’t want to appear supportive of him getting a reward, so much better to be negative about him it seems.ohio jones wrote: ↑Mon Oct 13, 2025 6:15 pmOkay, there were apparently two awards being talked about in the Knesset today, hence the confusion. Not sure where the perception of negativity is coming from; I was attempting to be factual. If he does get the Israel Prize it will be well deserved.
