Things that are not part of politics happening presently and how we approach or address it as Anabaptists.

.. There will be no more need for new fetal cell lines. ..
Good to know.
Do you know RFK Jr’s, new HHS Secretary, views? If/when approved, i hope the transition goes smoothly.

Judas Maccabeus wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2025 10:26 pm There will be no more need for new fetal cell lines. It is now possible to "reprogram" somatic cells to act like stem cells. There is still much safety testing to be done, but barring any problems, should be available soon.
If that’s true, that will be great, but I’m very skeptical It’s going to happen. We use fetal cell lines for drug production, Safety testing, For disease lab tests, For medical sterilization equipment, Vaccine production…
This abortion was NOT to create a vaccine, it was an elective abortion done for what is commonly called "social reasons." Had the tissue not been used, it would have gone to the incinerator. Get your facts straight. The "Children of God for Life" is simply not a good source for the facts. It is an advocacy group. So better to throw away the tissue? The bell cannot be unsung. Measles is nothing to trifle with.
Have you ever seen me argue that it was done to create the vaccine? You’re deflecting the central point.
By your logic, you should be happy to receive an organ from an abortion. And really why not? You might as well even pay the mother as long as she didn’t know she was going to be paid right?
I am not getting my facts from them. In fact, I’m providing them facts from peer reviewed research articles.
You cannot actually dispute any source I’ve provided in the past they all are accurate. If you can feel free to dig it up and show me.
It’s obvious that you and I will never agree on this, but don’t produce strawman arguments that I never argued for.

He has been staunchly pro-choice his entire career, it's hard for me to imagine what concerns he might have for using fetal cells for medical purposes.

That’s my guess. i wonder if it were someone else, profiteers of fetal cell lines might interfere or delay progress?
i don’t expect to know. few want to see their income streams ended. huge battles arise over protecting the status quo, no matter what it is.

In addition to simple greed, openness to experience and intellectual ability are components to mental health and IQ, maybe just inborn traits. It becomes interesting to witness resistence to change, evidently based mostly on resistence, more than interest in actual positive outcomes. It’s not unusual to find victims who protect their abusers, probably because they fear worse could come, they prefer the security of what is familiar, even if what’s familiar isn’t good. “Don’t rock the boat.” Others are ok with rocking the boat.

Of course, imo, recognized or not, all these secular psychology ideas have Christian/faith roots. Typically ignored.

barnhart wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2025 1:48 pmAs I understand it was developed with cell lines that originated from a fetus. Are you suggesting the vaccine contains actual cells from a fetus?
Living tissue torn from an aborted baby's body is part of an aborted baby.

By the way it's a "baby" not a "fetus".
According to Oxford's online dictionary, a baby is "a very young child, especially one newly or recently born"
a fetus is "an offspring of a human or other mammal in the stages of prenatal development that follow the embryo stage (in humans taken as beginning eight weeks after conception)"

barnhart used the term correctly. Let's not chide someone for using correct terminology. Using the term fetus does denote disregard for human life. The term is used to indicate a specific time frame in development. Other such terms would include infant, toddler

I’m aware of attempts to claim unborn babies aren’t people and don’t deserve to live.

Yes, unfortunately there are people in this world who do that. Those people will give account of their actions.
But don't confuse those people's efforts with someone else's correct usage of terminology.

It’s a baby or an unborn baby. Any other usage is simply giving in to the attempts of those who like to kill babies who want us to call it a “fetus” or “blob of tissue”.
