The Queen is dead

Things that are not part of politics happening presently and how we approach or address it as Anabaptists.

I wonder how many of her fans realize this.

And oh... the millions of dollars of flowers that are being placed on heaps and along roads in memory of her that she cannot even enjoy. I guess it is good for the economy...
That looks like an interesting read.

She also didn't have a divers license or a passport. She didn't them.

I realise you need a licence for just about anything in the UK (like watching TV), but didn’t know that extended to diving now.

I just read that the line to view the queen is five miles long with a 14 hour wait time.

I just read that some people are standing in line for 25 hours in order to see a closed coffin. All I can say is that their values are different than mine.

In reading about the queen's life and activities, I'm amazed again at the four components of a royal's life: family, pomp, religion & country. Interspersed throughout these roles are a saga of family politics, national politics, guns, swords, weapons of mass destruction and living in luxury while the poor beg for bread. How in the world did "Christianity" come to this?

Interestingly, this particular saga really took off with Henri VIII, who decided he didn’t want the Catholic Church being a check or balance against him (and that church decided it wouldn’t tolerate repeated divorce and remarriage in the form of annulments or having one’s wives killed), so he just went and started his own church.

Historically, monarchies and the institutional church are co-dependent and self-perpetuating.

The church provides legitimacy to the monarchy through the theology of divine right and through rites steeped in Christianity such as coronations that happen within cathedrals. This was the coronation of Queen Elizabeth in Westminster Abby overseen and conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury

At the same time, the monarchy and state provide power and authority to the institutional church in hundreds of ways large and small from land grants to tax revenues. It is a self-perpetuating circle.

Anabaptists should have nothing to do with it.
