Re: SWAT Team Arrests Christian Pastor
Interesting to see someone who was formerly anti-police suddenly very pro-police. "The police are good if they're oppressing my enemies."puttincomputers wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 3:53 pm Glad to hear about an anti-Christ pro-death preacher being arrested.
Could you share more about what your red-letter Anabaptist perspective is that leads you to say "Glad to see this preacher is being arrested"?

Re: SWAT Team Arrests Christian Pastor
I'm curious if all Christian preachers are anti-christ, or just Polish immigrant Canadian pastors, or maybe it's all Canadian ministers? It seems a strange designation. Is the man flawed? Probably about as much as puttin or Josh or I. But the name calling seems a little, um, extra.

Anyone who puts fundamentalist dogma about meeting over the lives of one God's little ones is an anti-Christ and a Pharisee, at least according to how I read the bible.Signtist wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 8:23 pm I'm curious if all Christian preachers are anti-christ, or just Polish immigrant Canadian pastors, or maybe it's all Canadian ministers? Re: SWAT Team Arrests Christian Pastor
It's weird how calling for police accountability and a reallocation of services to more adept agencies, thereby allowing the police to perform their duties better, is supposedly anti-police. Re: SWAT Team Arrests Christian Pastor
Any funds removed from police budgets must be refunded immediately and directly to taxpayers.
“Reallocating” funds is a fancy word for piracy.
If other budgets or new budgets must be increased or invented, they must follow due process of development.
The Public Treasury should not be abused as a gigantic slush fund for partisan pet projects.

That's a fascinating statement. Pretty sure you need a new Bible, yours appears to be missing a few pages.puttincomputers wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 1:10 am Anyone who puts fundamentalist dogma about meeting over the lives of one God's little ones is an anti-Christ and a Pharisee, at least according to how I read the bible.

Re: SWAT Team Arrests Christian Pastor
There was a case recently in Loveland where police arrested an elderly woman with early dementia who had accidentally forgotten to pay at Walmart and had been reported to the police for shoplifting.temporal1 wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 6:37 am Any funds removed from police budgets must be refunded immediately and directly to taxpayers.

Police are not adequately trained to deal with mental health and are frequently required to deal with situations that they are not trained for. Reallocating police funds to some sort of emergency mental health response that could deal with situations like this is not “piracy” or a “partisan pet project” but potentially a valuable, life-saving service.Three members of a Colorado police department have resigned after they arrested and booked a 73-year-old woman with dementia who was thrown to the ground and handcuffed after she was suspected of shoplifting, officials said on Friday.
The woman, Karen Garner, was pinned against a squad car, and her arm was twisted behind her back, breaking a bone and dislocating her shoulder during the roadside arrest in Loveland, Colo., last June, a lawsuit says.
Body-camera footage of the arrest and footage from Walmart security cameras that was released by Ms. Garner’s lawyer this month prompted widespread outrage, as did another video that showed three police officers laughing at a station as they watched the footage.

Re: SWAT Team Arrests Christian Pastor
The proposals I've seen have been to follow the legal process of voting less money for one thing and voting more money for a replacement. Having an unarmed crisis intervention team respond to a mental health emergency rather than the police would be much safer. But I agree with you that the proper legal channels should be followed.temporal1 wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 6:37 am Any funds removed from police budgets must be refunded immediately and directly to taxpayers.
