This seems incredibly childish. Are his followers convinced by this?

^^i saw it Saturday, his address was brief, the original video is no longer available in the link.
Trump said there would be more from the Pentagon Sunday (below). - -

i pray for peace; if not possible, at least non-military resolution. same as Ukraine-Russia.

i appreciate clarity of focus on removing nuclear capabilities, with care taken to limit casualities and fatalities.

i pray for no neocons, no failed protracted wars.

i realize, this is the only Iran my adult children have ever known. Earlier in my life, Iran was quite different.
i recall David Letterman closing his late night shows for years with the grim words, “Death to Amerca”.
40 years of this?? That’s a lot of hate to ingest.

i’ve read the U.S. military is on HIGH ALERT.
i’ve read there are likely terrorist sleeper cells in the U.S. i presume these would be suicidal bombs, attacks.

much harm can be done on low budgets, esp when suicide is part of the plan. proven over+over.

in many ways this reminds me of the shock of 9-11-2001.
things can change very quickly. without apology. for better or worse.

example, i never expected to see skies quickly cleared of air travel as happened on 9-11-2001.

current example, unannounced, gasoline prices jumped following Israel’s strikes on Iran.
i recall major gasoline shortages, including LONG gas station lines, rationing, and no fuel available in the 70’s.

life happens.

suggestion:
keep your gas tanks full.
prepare family for internet outages. and public panics.
don’t jump on social media bandwagons - no matter how delightful you find them.

I zinc that's correct. Popular opinion of the US is not going to be favorably impacted by the strike.

That remains to be seen. (i’ve seen some reactions of gratitude.)
If results are positive with little human loss, no ugly-costly protracted war, there could easily be humble appreciation. If quiet.

Too early to know.

If this does turn into a war, we’ll have to see how corrosive it is towards the US’s standing in the world.

There is usually a "rally around the flag" public opinion boost at the START of every war. But it quickly fades to negative if it doesn't turn out to be short and sweet.

The opponent always gets a vote in how every war progresses. I suspect Iran won't try any direct strikes on US interests or terrorism inside the US. But what they could do is what they did in the 1980s during the Iran/Iraq war and that is to threaten oil production and shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. If they drop mines out there or start to threaten supertanker oil shipping through there into the Persian Gulf it could completely cut off Gulf oil supplies to Western Europe and Asia which would spike oil prices worldwide. How happy will Americans be if this war of Trump's ends up doubling gas prices? That isn't an inconceivable scenario. As we found out with Yemen in the Red Sea, they don't have to completely cut off the straight in order to cease shipping. Only make the risk too great for private companies to risk sending their tankers through. See: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/201 ... d=re-share

What was that Vance was saying today about stupid presidents and wishful thinking?

This is the same exact thing that Bush told the American public about Iraq. That they would greet us as "liberators" and that regime change would be easy.

Somehow I don't think the "Great" Iran that Iranians might envision is necessarily going to be friendly to America or Trump. or for that matter, Israel.

From what i’ve seen, they’re NOT suggesting U.S.-driven regime change, but, if Iranians want it, so be it.
Trump has gone to great lengths to clarify his goal. Met, as usual, by domestic haters.

True. Bush did that! Trump seems uninterested. i hope it works out.
NOT the same exact thing.

He’s thoroughly accustomed to haters.
He doesn’t let petty hate cripple him. That’s unusual!

i hope 2016-era failed TDS is found to be a legitimate syndrome, even more, with some effective treatment.

Trump threatened to kill Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei a few days ago. I think that sounds kinda, sorta regime changey.
