i believe DJT shared good counsel years ago when he recommended to Zelensky to find a path to get along with Putin.
i wish we-all could return to that moment in time, to make better choices. HOT wars (“conflicts”) are tragic.
Putin's so-called annexation of 4 provinces of Ukraine occurred exactly 84 years to the day after Britain and France agreed to Hitler's annexation of a similar proportion of Czechoslovakia at the Munich Conference of 1938. An action which was supposed to mollify Hitler and prevent a second world war and bring "Peace in our Time" as the British Prime Minister put it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Munich_Agreement
And, of course, the Czechs and Poles were advised to "find a path to get along with Hitler"
History does rhyme. Putin and Russia have threatened invasions and military action against Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Finland, Poland, Romania, and Georgia in recent years. Asserting various bogus claims of sovereignty and national influence over all of those countries similar to the claims made in Ukraine.

A much better analogy would be to Lenin and Stalin (who are the ones who gave the Ukraine any degree of independence in the first place).

For those without respect for or patience with diplomacy, war is inevitable. For those who profit from war, no better time than now for war.
There are plenty who would worship diplomacy, at the moment their chosen tribal leaders “said the word.”
Some have sincerely prayed for diplomacy since Feb 24.

Well yes, there are indeed parallels between Putin and Stalin as well.
Stalin was one of the Soviet commanders involved in the 1919 Bolshevik invasion of Ukraine. And then 15 years later he was the architect of the Holodomor.
Both Stalin and Hitler were responsible for brutal invasions and massive genocide in Ukraine. I guess you can take your pick as to which dictator Putin more closely resembles.

By this standard, Hitler was a liberator (and was indeed celebrated as such by the inhabitants of Ukraine).
Perhaps it is good to give pause and consider if the West may indeed be analogous to Hitler.

If it weren't for Lenin and Stalin, Ukraine wouldn't have existed as an "independent" soviet socialist republic.

Ukraine was an independent Republic. Stalin was one of the Bolshevik commanders who led an invasion of Ukraine in 1919 at Lenin's direction that violently overthrew the independent government of Ukraine and forced it into the Soviet Union.
The Holodomor which occurred 15 years later was more or less Stalin's effort to finish the job he started in 1919 of eradicating any sense of Ukrainian nationality through genocide.
History is complicated. But it doesn't justify what is happening today.
