So why did God allow the God-fearing country/mt, predominantly MAGA people of Kentucky and NC to be hammered by Helene a few months ago?

A Confessing Church would acknowledge the inescapable realities of sin and injustice in every human institution, including every political party. It would wholeheartedly reject any suggestion that one party or movement is the party of God. Paul D Miller

Natural disasters happen. Timing was just odd with the mocking of God. By the way, Trump supporters are everywhere

Re: West Coast Fire Thread
Looks like they’re going to try again to recall Governor Newsom of CA for this fire disaster- he had his sights on running for President next- too bad he didn’t listen to Trumps warnings years ago

Re: West Coast Fire Thread
Who is "they" and what responsibility do you think Newsom has for the current fires in Los Angeles?

Re: West Coast Fire Thread
presumably forestry management and wildfire mitigation is a state responsibility, in coordination with the federal government too.

You’re not following the story apparently. Most of my family is there & it’s also being reported. Trump advised him years ago he was making poor decisions & since they are showing the clips of that on FOX it’s pretty well known, at least for Californians. They’ve tried to recall him before but his decisions this time may lead to that. People are angry!

Re: West Coast Fire Thread
There are no state forests inside Los Angeles and none even close
There are no Federal forests inside Los Angeles either
None of these Los Angeles fires are happening on any state or federal lands. And, in any event, what lack of coordination do you think is happening here?
You do realize that California has an enormous firefighting agency called CalFire that actually has fire experts whose actual jobs are coordinating fire response. https://www.fire.ca.gov/ It isn't the governor rolling up his sleeves and "winging it"
Is CalFire dropping the ball here?

Re: West Coast Fire Thread
Oh, I'm following the story. Trump came to California a few years ago and said a bunch of painfully stupid things like "raking the forests" that has nothing to do with any of these fires in Los Angeles. And, in point of fact, the vast majority of forests in California are actually National Forests which were under Trump's authority at that time, not Gavin Newsom's. About 97% of the public forest lands in CA are federally owned by the Forest Service, BLM, and Parks Service. Only about 3% are under state management.Valerie wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 5:35 pmYou’re not following the story apparently. Most of my family is there & it’s also being reported. And none of those are anywhere near Los Angeles. The fires in Los Angeles are not forest fires. They are suburban conflagrations.
I mean sure, it is easy to get enough signatures to get a recall petition on the ballot. They tried that a couple years ago. But it is just as likely to fail resoundingly this time around too. Especially because the GOP in California doesn't seem to have anyone but dingbats like Larry Elder to run and someone like Larry Elder isn't beating Gavin Newsom.

Biden is giving California fire victims, a measly $770.00. But funding the Ukrainian war, he gave billions.
Another tidbit of information Gavin Newsom and California Democrats reached $50M in an attempt to Trump-proof the state. Maybe they should have made sure the water supply was adequate to fight the fires.
