From current+predicted employment indicators, nothing but worse is on the horizon.
Tech is it, leaving even medical doctors, psychiatrists, dentists in their wake, teaching doesn’t hit the top 50.

Tech efficiency as god kills.

Interesting stuff HK. I suppose this is predictable, a sort of closing the loop from the 90's when the democratic left chose neo liberal economics and abandoned the working classes in favor of the titans of the economy (Clinton giving up Unions for NAFTA). I noticed some sort of radical realignment was afoot when around the same time when anti immigration sentiment shifted from the party of labor to the party of the rural.

The former "party of labor" seems to have a strong constituency amongst Silicon Valley billionaires and the laptop class, which pecks away at their keyboards from their work-from-home jobs, acting as if they are part of the "proletariat" whilst having $100k+ jobs.

Meanwhile, many in the Republican establishment fret that much of their constituency is no longer interested in a platform of lower taxes for rich people, "free trade", and generally "pro-big-business". Some fret that some Republican candidates are shifting away from this as well. The flyers I keep getting in the mail seem to emphasise things other than the Republican agenda of the 1990s. (I'm sorry to report that culture-wars type issues are still front and centre.)

The best, maybe the only, earthly hope for improvement would have been for DJT to have easily won his second term, as any other POTUS with effective policies would have; obama was an anomaly, winning in spite of poor performance. Even he remarked about it.

This established, “the end justifies the means,” it was richly rewarded, which translates to “more of the same.”
i’m sorry to say. for everyone’s sake.

HK always finds the most interesting reads. :D

Appleman, I'm curious how you feel about the truckers that are still remaining in Ottawa, and their decision to blow their horns again yesterday despite the court order.

I assume you are being humorous?

Earlier, Appleman was talking about how peaceful, helpful, and law abiding many of the protesters are. I'm curious how he thinks about that now.

Then I guess I give up...
Any attempt at equating the reasons and intent for blowing airhorns in Ottawa on 2-17-22 with trumpets being blown at Jericho are so mind boggling to me that I don't even know how to engage in further dialogue on this one... :-(

I'm sure that blowing horns at Jericho in order to make their walls tumble down was against Jericho's laws at the time, too.

Ernie, are you seriously that concerned about violating laws against blowing car horns? Especially when these laws were very quickly just recently specifically to target the protesters?

Should a protest movement comply with a law that basically is passed saying, "Your specific protest movement isn't allowed to protest?"
