Another good article...appleman2006 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 26, 2021 11:49 amWhat Ernie says here really rings true with me and states where I am at. I quite frankly would be way to chicken to do what these folks were doing. But I have nothing but admiration and respect for those that are willing to risk all for the sake of others less fortunate.Ernie wrote: ↑Tue Oct 26, 2021 10:55 am As I said earlier, I've been around frontier missionaries long enough to know that many of them truly trust God to take care of them and they don't worry about the kinds of things most of us do. When they get into scrapes, they pray and try to find their way out of bad situation. From my "safety" perspective, some of them take this too far, but in the end, they stand before God. Who am I to judge? They don't need to answer to me. They get into scrapes that I never get into. But they also get things done I would never get done.
Frankly I am so sick and tired of arm chair quarterbacks sitting around and expressing strong opinions on what should be done and what was done wrong when in fact we do not know anything close to the whole story. And yes I have been guilty of doing the same thing in the past.
The best and really the only thing most of us can do is pray and fast. In case any family members or CAM personnel are reading this my prayers are with you. Our church has been holding a special prayer time for this situation the past two Sunday mornings. I have every confidence that God is in control.

In Hebrew, there is no word for risk. There are only stories that describe situations.

I'm shocked at how the non-plain community is latching onto this and taking it a whole 'nother level at that. I was early for a haircut appointment and the older gentleman before me had this all figured out... I loves me a good conspiracy theory as much as the next... but this was unbelievable

What do you mean by "still in captivity?"steve-in-kville wrote: ↑Thu Nov 11, 2021 6:23 am To anyone's immediate knowledge, are all the hostages still in captivity?
If any of them were freed we would no doubt hear about it on the news. That isn't the sort of thing you can keep secret.
If any of them were no longer alive we might or might not actually hear about it depending on the circumstances.
I'm actually somewhat puzzled by how long this has gone on. If this is simply a financial negotiation one would expect them to have been able to reach some deal by now. I don't have the impression that this is an ideological kidnaping of the sort that happens in places like Syria where hostages are taken for ideological/political leverage or human shields. It sounds like they just want money. And it would seem to be in everyone's interest including the kidnappers to bring it to a swift conclusion.

There was a rumor going around that some were freed. And you're right, it would have made the news somehow.
