So that article was from 2014 before Ron Klain had even taken the position. Did any of those dire predictions end up happening? Did the Obama Administration botch the Ebola response as a result? Was Ron Klain incompetent in his job? Did political meddling by the White House hamper the ebola response? Did ebola end up spreading across the US?Grace wrote:Ken wrote:This is not good:

Right-click and open in an incognito tab to read the whole thing:
To bring order and harmony to the chaos, rein in the agency egos, and create a coherent multiagency response overseas and on the homefront, Obama anointed a former vice presidential staffer, Ronald Klain, as a sort of “epidemic czar” inside the White House, clearly stipulated the roles and budgets of various agencies, and placed incident commanders in charge in each Ebola-hit country and inside the United States. The orchestra may have still had its off-key instruments, but it played the same tune.
"Ron Klain is a sharp-elbowed Democratic political operative with no medical expertise. Tapping him as “Ebola czar” may not be the president’s best move when, as it is, no one can believe a word the Obama administration says. And that’s not just because Mr. Klain is yet another lobbyist recruited despite Mr. Obama’s vow that his administration would shun lobbyists.
Klain was also a central player in the president’s Solyndra fraud, which soaked taxpayers for over half a billion dollars for the benefit of Obama cronies.
In Faithless Execution, I recount the Solyndra fraud. It never got the attention it deserved — involving, as it did, potential felony fraud violations of federal law. Even for people who did give it attention at the time, Solyndra is so many Obama scandals ago that its unseemly details are tough to recall. The story is thus worth retelling. As our nerves fray over the Ebola crisis, it is a valuable window into the administration’s priorities and an indicator of the level of trust we can put in the new czar’s assurances."

Grace,
Incompetence married to corruption. It is so ugly.
Then, they insist we have NO MEMORY, we are to expect NO ACCOUNTABILITY.
They are far too successful.

Was Ron Klain incompetent in his job? Did political meddling by the White House hamper the ebola response? Did ebola end up spreading across the US?
RK’s involvement in Solyndra should have prevented him from any elected or appointed gov office.
Why didn’t it?
How can you accept his appointment then blast VP Pence’s appointment?
i did not like anything about the RK appointment, but, as you say, my fears did not come about, so, i cannot question VP Pence’s appointment at this time.
i can be disgusted that others who did not question RK, now want to blast away at VP Pence.
VP Pence has no Solyndra record. His biggest sin is being an unapologetic faithful husband to one wife.
.. and, don’t believe his “sin” is not a BIG issue that-does-not-rest for many in politics.

Ken,
Would you consider opting out of the tribalism for this thread / this issue? (There are plenty of other threads where you can go complain about plain people, conservatives, Republicans, Trump, and so on.)
For all the talk about how bad tribalism is, I’d really like to see a few of our resident NeverTrumpers take a break from the tribalism.

Re: Coronavirus Outbreak
Personally I think they are setting Mike Pence up to be the fall guy on this (and to deflect any future blame away from Trump) in an eventual move to replace him on the ticket with someone younger and more potentially interesting to swing voters. Like maybe Nikki Haley. I'm guessing that they might now assume that Trump already has the conservative evangelical vote locked up that Pence was brought in in 2016 to solidify and they may be looking for someone with wider appeal for the 2020 campaign.temporal1 wrote:Not responding for Grace. So that article was from 2014 before Ron Klain had even taken the position.

In your location, and according to your employment, i believe it would be nothing short of a miracle for you to see things any differently than you do. If you saw things differently, you probably would lose your employment, and you might feel very socially isolated, employment or not.
You might suffer worse than any of that.
This does not bode well for the U.S., or the world. i am sorrowful about it.

It's the internet. There's going to be a diversity of opinions. Would you really rather live in a bubble where everyone's views exactly mirrored yours? Where you encounter no diversity of opinion?temporal1 wrote:Ken,Ken wrote:Personally I think they are setting Mike Pence up to be the fall guy on this (and to deflect any future blame away from Trump) in an eventual move to replace him on the ticket with someone younger and more potentially interesting to swing voters. This thread, and most of the threads in the current events and politics boards are full of political opinions. You are free to agree or disagree or ignore. I don't think anyone here is reading this thread to find out the latest science and correct clinical response to coronovirus. At least I hope not.

Case in point about Pence’s personal convictions over riding EVERYTHING else at hand:
“Jimmy Kimmel joins chorus of liberals mocking Mike Pence:
‘What is his plan to stop the [coronavirus], abstinence?’ “
https://www.theblaze.com/news/jimmy-kim ... abstinence
Obsession.
Solyndra failure = No problem.
Moral compass = KILL HIM.
