I am looking forward to working with a crew from our church in Swainsboro, Georgia this coming week. They say we might be roofing a house. Did you guys ever hear about my mad roofing skills? Me either.
 prayers for you to be an inspired roofer. :D
I don't know about inspired, but we ripped off shingles and put shingles on. The last couple of days they put me on electrical and plumbing, and as I reinstalled a filthy and foul-smelling toilet in a tight space I reminded myself that it was at least better than roofing in 80 degree heat.

I hear tell that temperatures in GA were in their Spring Swing-swinging from summer back to winter this weekend. Roofing is some of the hottest work in the world outside steel mills.
God bless you and thank you for helping out the hurting.

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The National Weather Service has issued
multiple Tornado Warnings and Flash Flood warnings in parts of central North Carolina due to Tropical Depression Chantal.

Several flash flood warnings were issued throughout the late morning and Sunday afternoon —
including for Moore County, which was hit hard by flooding.

Amish - For over eight months, Amish volunteers from Pennsylvania have quietly dedicated their time and traditional craftsmanship to help rebuild communities in Western North Carolina devastated by Hurricane Helene.

Since November last year, dozens of Amish men and women have arrived in towns like Boone, Chimney Rock, and Bat Cave, bringing trailers filled with tools, building supplies, and a deep commitment to serve.

Working long days, they have built tiny homes and sheds for families who lost everything, some groups completing as many as 12 tiny houses in under 48 hours, contributing labor and materials valued at over $300,000.

In a moving scene that has gone viral online, the volunteers were filmed singing a-cappella hymns together after finishing a build, offering comfort and hope to local residents.

Many have praised the Amish community for their humility and unwavering faith, which they demonstrate not through publicity but through acts of service that continue to transform lives months after disaster struck.

The Amish plan to keep returning until every planned project is complete, quietly reminding many that true charity often happens far from the spotlight.

WNC / Western North Carolina / Chimney Rock

There’s no shortage of stories that show the resilience of the human spirit in WNC after the year our region has had. No where is that more true than just down the valley from us in Chimney Rock. All residents of the town had to be airlifted out, after several of the most terrifying days of their lives. Many of them watched their homes, neighborhoods, and businesses washing away, some with beloved neighbors and pets inside who tragically weren’t able to get out in time. Considering all they’ve been through it’s nothing short of a miracle that the town is now opening back up bit by bit, ready to welcome visitors back.

Memorial Day weekend saw some of the first crowds the town has seen since before the storm, and not a moment too soon. For the first time since September 27, 2024 the village started to feel a bit like its old self again. They still have a long way to go though. The more people who come see and support them now in their time of need, the sooner and better they’ll be able to build back.

Come make reservations for a day at the park, and while you’re in the village be sure to stop at the many businesses who’ve opened up, with more and more opening each week. Lake Lure still has plenty of businesses that are open as well who are also in need of support. Thank you to all who have visited and those still planning to come visit! Each and every one of you is part of our region’s comeback and we can’t thank you enough. ❤️‍🩹🙏⛰️
