Yes. At 2 a.m., an unusual request, an admin judgment call.
Robert is gracious in his forum decision-making, this is not an exception.
His responses in this thread tell it all, beginning with:

I did not have time to really dig into it.
I just archived the thread until we (Mods) had the time to sort it out. I just erred on the side of safety until we got more information. I can move the thread back once we get more details.
I don't usually react the requests for threads to be gone, but a missing person is a different issue and would rather be safe than sorry. I am not interested in the fact that this information may be out there other places. I can not do anything about that, but if it helps the family right now, I am happy to do what little we can here.

The note I read stated it was a request from the family.
I removed it because of that out of compassion.
Projecting that everything will soon be removed and moderated from a once in the entire existence of the forum action seems pretty extreme. If we had missing persons threads, I could see it, but this is quite unusual here.
Please do not project and trust that we moderators are here to make judgement calls just like this. You can not always make extensive policy for freak events.
One just has to deal with it as best we can.
You projecting this action as an absolute says more about where you are then where the forum is on this type of situation.
.. personally, i miss the original Sasha thread, if i recall, the link to the official police
MISSING PERSON ALERT was in the OP. i used it, hoping for updates .. i think this is it:
I removed posts containing details and removed the posts questioning the poster who passed on the request to remove the information. Again, I erred on the side of compassion.
These posts were not removed from fear of law, but compassion for the family and willingness to assist in what little way we can. I know there was no malicious intent from anyone posting.
The edits were not because anyone was doing anything wrong. It is to assist the family as they work through this process while they work with law enforcement to find resolution.
Feel free to continue to post here but please do not add any details other than official posts from law enforcement.

Try hard not to offend. Try harder not to be offended.
I think I am funnier than I really am.
I don't remember if I posted this in the Where is Sasha Krause thread but I'll post it here anyway. Here's the link to the San Juan County Sheriff's Facebook page. I'll copy and paste the 2 latest updates in case anyone doesn't have Facebook and hasn't seen them. I don't see that there have been any official updates since January 23rd.
Yesterday, the Sheriff's Office spent the entire day with a search and rescue team hired by the Krause family thoroughly searching the area surrounding the Mennonite Church. We have no further updates at this time but detectives are continuously working this case and we are hoping for the best possible outcome.

Not sure where I read this (Facebook maybe?) but the family made a statement that they will not press charges if she is returned safely. Not sure how much water that holds, but there it is.
