Here's an interview where Fauci responds to some of the main claims.
Fauci E-mails and Honesty

Boot is a little behind the times. The mainstream consensus now is that Fauci is to blame for a lot of stuff.
I realise the mainstream consensus changes very quickly - in this case in just a few weeks. But that’s the problem with following the mainstream consensus and “trust scientists”. What they tell you is always changing.

Josh, seriously, asking for facts and presenting them is not the same thing as blindly following the mainstream consensus. It's the opposite. And science is a place where scientists use verifiable data and debate it from various perspectives. I am a believer in verifiable truth. I think it's worth taking the time to look for facts.Josh wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 11:40 am Boot is a little behind the times. That's different from trying to brand people who disagree with you with glittering generalities and insults. Do you have any facts you would like to bring to this discussion? I just presented some, did you see any problems with the facts that I presented?
Got any facts? Care to respond to my facts?

I couldn't agree more, when this is all said and done well let's just say we'll wait and see because he probably will get off Scot freeGrace wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 11:08 am The e-mails that came out earlier this week revealed Dr. Fauci knew more about the origins of the Covid 19 than he revealed in his public statements. Fauci also was behind “gain of function” research in the USnited Sates and China. Fauci also knew that hydroxychloroquine worked effectively against Covid 19, yet he claimed otherwise.
IMO Fauci is a sociaopath with no regards for human life. I wouldn’t put it past him to have welcomed the virus as a means of population control.
One last thing, as crooked as Fauci is, I am surprised he didn’t follow crooked Hillary Clinton’s method concerning the e-mails and delete them.

First Fasuci said, “You ONLY need to wear a mask if you're sick or if you work in a hospital”>
Next he said “You should wear a mask until there's a vaccine”.
Later he said, “You should wear a mask even after the vaccine”.
And then it was, “You should wear two masks”.
One thing we do know, It is a scientific fact that Fauci flip flopped and back tracked many times. The mask example was just on one issue. There were many more.

Isn't that the nature of scientific inquiry - to modify one's actions and recommendations as the data become available? He certainly wasn't godlike in his foresight, but I think, for the most part, Fauci adapted his message as the data and circumstances dictated.Grace wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 1:41 pmFirst Fasuci said, “You ONLY need to wear a mask if you're sick or if you work in a hospital”>

I agree.Dan Z wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 1:51 pm Isn't that the nature of scientific inquiry - to modify one's actions and recommendations as the data become available?. I do think Fauci has been way too cautious sometimes, asking for more precautions than were needed, but I can also understand that for someone in his position.
This thread claims the emails show him to be dishonest. I have yet to see evidence of that. If people actually care about honesty, they should do what honest people do, provide clear facts, point to the emails and show some area where Fauci clearly lied. If people actually care about honesty, ther would be the same level of outrage against people who lie to discredit Fauci - requiring the same level of facts, of course.
Personality-driven threads like this are prone to partisan groupthink and propaganda. They shout words like "honesty" and "truth", but they don't honestly strive after the facts that make up truth. Did the emails show Fauci lying? If so, which ones, where? Please point me to them. That would help show me that this is about honesty and not about hating on Fauci.

Honestly, Fauci has more or less become a human Rorschach Test. People's opinion about him tell us more about THEM then it does about him.
Other lightning-rod individuals like AOC or Trump himself seem to serve the same purpose.

I also think he is a scientist living with the reality of human behavior - the public health folks not only need to give recommendations that are correct based on the data, but they need to give them in such a way that they will have the greatest likelihood of success. There is a pragmatism here in addition to the hard science that affects timing, politics, and the likelihood that people will respond at all. I certainly don't think he was flawless in his execution, but I also don't think he was especially flawed either.Bootstrap wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 2:01 pmI agree.Dan Z wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 1:51 pm Isn't that the nature of scientific inquiry - to modify one's actions and recommendations as the data become available?.
