“Turn the other cheek.” Matthew 5:39 :)

“Sticks+stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.”
(Words CAN hurt. Faith in Jesus Christ is greater-than physical or psychological pain.) Psalm 46:1 :)

“Rise above.” Hosea 10:12 :)

Parents and teachers formerly led children/students to seek “the better way” of coping with life’s disappointments and injustices. (Often without realizing these are Christian principles.) The further the sheep stray, the more misery they find.

Dershowitz
“Interview: UVM Professor Aaron Kindsvatter is being asked to resign” / Audio 54 min.
https://omny.fm/shows/the-dershow/inter ... atter-is-b

Lengthy. Interesting. Not flashy or sophisticated. Not polished. Thoughtful. Credible.

Down to earth warning about not jumping on bandwagons.
Even when peer pressure is terrific, penalties uncomfortable or harsh.

In the OP, AK used the profound words, “secular religion,” i believe accurate.
i’ve used the words, “organized political blocs/cults,” i believe to describe the same phenomena.

Without Jesus Christ at center, the natural path is to paganism. Without God, humans quickly default to false gods.
Even without self-recognition, even in abject denial. Often with no understanding of what a false god can be, how insidious.

In this interview, AK refers to two games being played:
1. The Definition Game, versus
2. The Power Game

It’s late in the day.

Kent State University graduate.
1970. A school made tragically famous about the importance of free speech in the U.S.

i was young, naive, 20. working at UVM, College of Ag.
some men i worked with were veterans of war. i believe they were more deeply affected by this unthinkable act than anyone i knew. “the world” was horrified. for these veterans, it was deeply personal, specially shocking. repulsive.

It’s incredible to witness the ironies that transpire in one human lifetime.
It’s almost more than a person can grasp.

“Maher sounds alarm on 'climate of fear' in US schools: Parents afraid of 'not being woke enough' “
https://news.yahoo.com/maher-sounds-ala ... 28929.html
.. “There is something going on in the schools. ...
These are the schools that funnel kids to Harvard -- and Harvard, you know, funnels them out to important parts of the media, television, government and they control a lot of how people think," Maher began.

"Two things that are different:
Parents don't have the back of the teachers anymore, they always side with their little brat ...
and the biggest thing, I think, is the shift away from moral teaching from the parent to the school.

"It used to be the school would be afraid of what the parent thought.
Now the parent is afraid of going against what they're teaching in school -- even when they don't agree with it.

That's a huge shift that we should stop and at least notice and debate and talk about, right?" Maher asked. ..

For decades, too many trusted too much for too long. The price is overdue.
Maher’s “alarm” is ‘way behind the curve. ‘better late than never.
