Marxist BLM tries to force innocent diners to bow to them. For Marxists, it's always about control.

Things that are not part of politics happening presently and how we approach or address it as Anabaptists.

Some of the violent folks have been linked to alt-right groups trying to give BLM a bad name. Some are left-wing revolutionaries. And some are just angry desperate people who aren't giving what they are doing rational thought or drug addicts taking advantage of the situation for looting.

Most leaders of most demonstrations have worked hard to prevent violence. Most demonstrations have no associated violence on the protestors' side. Some politicians and "news" sources try to have us focus on the lawlessness; this is not what BLM is about.

By the way, the tax collectors that Jesus befriended were cheating their own people in support of an oppressive military occupation, clearly an evil violent group.
Wrong parallel. Not even close.
If there are wise black people speaking out against BLM, then I really think it speaks volumes for anyone to support them. They seem to get it, unlike those who think it's ok to through their name in with an evil movement. There are other ways to help. One of them is to speak out to those who are extremist and not let them sense support to keep this insanity going.

By the way, I have 2 black people/ friends who told me President Trump has done more for blacks than Obama did. Obama, stirred up racial divide

JimFoxvog wrote:I don't know if the woman in the video was a Marxist, but certainly most of us who support BLM aren't. Yes, a few leaders of the foundation with that name are, but it's a broad movement with Democrats, independents, socialists, those who don't identify with a party, Christians, and atheists. At our local BLM rally I saw a number of people I knew to be Christians, including an elder and the song leader of our Mennonite Church. I know they are not Marxists, either.
Have you read from BLM's own website? Just a few items quoted from the BLM site: https://blacklivesmatter.com/what-we-believe/
We make space for transgender brothers and sisters to participate and lead.
We disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by ...
We foster a queer‐affirming network.

Sorry, but I find no room for Christian participation in a group with such values.

Do you mean the parallel between the tax collectors of Jesus' time and the violent people who some associate with the BLM movement?

It seems I did not make my point clear enough. The Black Lives Matter Movement is not the same thing as the Black Lives Matter Foundation to which you link. That is why many Christians, including many of us Mennonites, are part of the movement but have no allegiance to the Foundation, with which we have many points of dissagreement. We can agree with the Foundation that too often black lives seem not to matter to police and others in authority, that active racism is too prevalent, and that this needs to change. This does not mean we affirm the support for sexual perversion of the Foundation.

Jesus being a friend of tax collectors didn't mean that he supported a brutal military occupation.

I am not seeing anything about a "foundation" in the link I sent. What is the difference? They both call themselves Black Lives Matter. If you don't want to be a part of the BLM that I cited, why would you say you are pro BLM? Nobody will understand that you are talking about a different group. I think your group better get a new name. But if you start any movement to help black people, and it gets enough momentum, watch out because Marxists will likely hijack it for their own purposes. Don't you think that as Christians we should be in a movement called All Lives Matter, and within that movement we can help anyone, regardless of color.

Now back to the thread topic, and more information on Marxist control:

The difference is between an organization and a movement. The civil rights movement of the '60s was also slandered by calling it Communist. I expect there were some communists in the movement, but that was not what it was about.

There is wisdom in being aware that Marists will try to use a movement for their purposes. That's a good reason for discerning Christians to be part of a positive movement.

I think the Mennonite Church USA Statement on racial injustice does a good job on the "All Lives Matter" idea:
Why is it inappropriate and tone deaf to say, “All lives matter”?

People of color in the Americas, starting with the indigenous brothers and sisters, have been marginalized since the first European colonists arrived up until the present day. Black people have experienced the consequences of a country built on chattel slavery, white supremacy, Jim Crow laws and mass incarceration. The statement #Black Lives Matter was an outcry after yet another violent racial killing of an African American, pointing out the pain and suffering of that specific group of marginalized people. To respond by saying, “all lives matter” in this context is to be dismissive of that pain and suffering. Certainly, all lives matter. All lives matter to us, and all lives matter to God; but do we live as if all lives matter? Institutionalized inequality means that all lives are not of equal value. It is important to center those who are counted as less (1 Corinthians 1:26-29). --https://www.mennoniteusa.org/news/mc_us ... injustice/
The rest of the Mennonite statement is valuable also.

So we should judge BLM, Trump voters, and gun fans by the most radical elements among them? "Guilt by association" is the right standard?

How about Christians? Should we be judged by the most radical elements among us? How about Mennonites? Trump voters? That's what "guilt by association" does, and it's a favorite game for conspiracy theorists. After all, it's really easy to associate just about any movement or person with something extreme. Dylan Roof was associated with a LOT of things that perfectly normal people would agree with. If we play the "guilt by association" game, I guess all of us are really guilty.

The vast majority of people who say they support Black Lives Matter do not support Marxism. They believe two simple things: (1) Blacks are sometimes treated as though their lives do not matter, in situations where it makes a big difference, and (2) this is wrong and should be fixed.

Why are people working so hard to insist that the black people who are speaking out about these things have no valid grievances and need to be shut down? As long as we do that, their need to speak up gets stronger and stronger. Some of these same people have said a LOT about white grievances. Do black grievances matter less?

The example i think about when observing how various groups renounce violence+crime, lies, bullying, et al., is how the majority of Christians respond to Westboro Baptist.

It is possible to draw boundaries.

Christians must not stumble when it comes to the Truth found in all lives mattering;
“all” includes enemies and persecutors. :-|

Christians are to separate from their beloved faulty human reasoning to embrace Jesus’ Truth.

“Christian” is not a skin color. Praise God.
When applied, it works really well. :)

I saved this image (from somewhere) in 2016.
I had no idea any Christian anywhere, ever, would question it. Jesus wept.

God and country 'Christians' always seem to blame everything on the evil 'Marxists'. Kind of like how the Left blame everything on Nazi hate groups.
