After a decade of Muslim mayors and city council, how is Hamtramck doing? Any signs of religious intolerance? Any churches shut down? Any no go zones where non- Muslims are excluded? Sharia law? Honor killings? Has any part of the city charter been changed to favor the practice of Islam? These were all concerns I have heard to support ending Muslim immigration.
Great questions. I'd really like to know as well. Seems like a perfect case study for finding out if the fears are justified or not.
Also, one thing I rarely see discussed when talking about Islam/Muslims here is this; How devout or how nominal are they? Right of center media seems to treat them all as one monolith, but from the little traveling I've done and reading/listening to others abroad is that there's a wide spectrum between militaristic devout, devout, semi-devout, nominal to mostly just cultural. So what % of the US population fits into those different buckets? What is the spread like in this Michigan town? For me, answers to those questions would help me decide if this is something to be concerned about or if it's fear-mongering from the main stream media of the ruling party/class/elites currently in power.

A Confessing Church would acknowledge the inescapable realities of sin and injustice in every human institution, including every political party. It would wholeheartedly reject any suggestion that one party or movement is the party of God. Paul D Miller
Just the title of this thread makes me want to put this city on my bucket list and visit it and see for myself.

(For an example of Islamic countries very different from that, look at Malaysia and Indonesia, which manage to be pluralistic despite Muslim majorities, don't have endless problems with extremist terrorism, and have functional economies that don't generate large amounts of refugees or economic migrants trying to move elsewhere.)
Not sure Indonesia is the best example here, with 5.3 million migrant workers in other countries (including 1.8 million in Malaysia, one of the top 20 country-to-country migration corridors).
Well, they are neighbours. Indonesia has a population of 300 million and the two countries have a long established cross border visa program. NZ->Australia has similar flows.

The only thing I found so far is that the council banned the display of Pride flags on city property.

There is a touch of irony in this. My observation is the population that might resist progressive politics as well as any would be the groups maga wants to remove or block, Muslims and traditional Catholics.
On P.5, i revived this 2021 topic with an interesting video, mostly AYAAN HIRSI ALI speaking, about 48 minutes.
Lots of posts followed, none indicating whether anyone listened to or viewed Ms.Ali.
i’m curious about response to her opinions+knowledge, resulting from her life experience.
Is she a fraud? Is Cardinal Sarah a fraud?

i reviewed the earlier posts, many about Ilhan Omar. (Minneapolis)
It seems all doubt has been removed about Ms.Omar’s marriage to her brother (and others).
Her D.C. home was just raided (with a judge’s warrant) - reportedly about her deceased father, her age, his and her immigration status; if those things don’t line up, there could be a plethora of charges. (Beginnng stages.)

Jan 2026 / RubinReport / Somali Immigrant Has a Chilling Warning for the West | Ayaan Hirsi Ali / 48+min
Dave Rubin of “The Rubin Report” talks to Ayaan Hirsi Ali about her Somali background and the clan-based system shaping Somali society;
how clan loyalty and political Islam operate as alternative moral systems that clash with Western nation-states;
how these dynamics inform Somali communities in Minnesota, fraud scandals, and identity politics;
the influence of Islamist networks like the Muslim Brotherhood;
Democratic electoral strategies built around ethnic blocs and dependency; the broader threat to liberal democracy and Western values;
about Ilhan Omar’s role at the intersection of clan loyalty, Islamist influence, and Democratic Party politics;
how Somali clan dynamics and Muslim Brotherhood networks operate in Minnesota;
the red-green alliance between progressives and Islamists; Europe’s multiculturalism error and electoral opportunism;
the long-term consequences for Western democracy;
whether the U.S. and Western Europe can realistically reverse mass immigration, identity politics, and radical ideology through border control, remigration, and political reform;
the decline of classical liberalism and why it struggles to defend itself;
her intellectual journey from atheism to Christianity as a search for liberalism’s moral roots;
the choice between Christian and Islamist societies through lived examples;
why the danger of abandoning Judeo-Christian values leads societies toward authoritarianism, violence, and collapse;
and much more.
A sophisticated thinker and Christian convert. Candid, measured, not hyperbolic.
i wonder about her views on Cardinal Sarah? He’s warned (esp Europe) against mass migration.
i’d like to hear Ms.Ali and Cardinal Sarah interview.
What a life she’s had.

i’m perfectly comfortable with an older, wiser, more docile Trump.

These are people with sincere beliefs about the kingdom of heaven that are foreign to historic Anabaptism. Do you promote these ideas here because you oppose the Anabaptist perspective on nations and the kingdom of heaven? Do you believe in the views they represent?
