I wonder who the "none of us" is. And I find it interesting that members basically of one party didn't expect this, and members of the other party did expect this. Only a few Republicans expected this. How does that happen?Sen. Jim Justice (R-W.Va.) called the conflict “a quagmire” but warned that President Trump can’t simply walk away while Iran still has a path to obtain nuclear weapons.
“All of us want it to end as soon as possible,” he said. “Our president decided we needed to go [to war] and we went, and I was fully supportive of going.
“Unexpected things come up within war,” he added. “Now we’re in a quagmire to some degree and energy prices are high. … This thing has turned into something [Trump] didn’t expect — none of us expected this, that this would go on this long.”

A wee little man can’t say, I’m sorry. A big man owns his mistakes and apologizes.
A wee little man trusts himself and his own discernment. A big man is humble enough to know that he needs the counsel and input of others.

From the beginning I doubted very seriously this would be a short undertaking. For someone who seems to understand radical Islam well it seemed very unrealistic to expect it to be over in a few weeks. So I was concerned it would make Trump look like what it seems-he was either wrong, or he was misleading to soften the blow.Ernie wrote: ↑Thu Sep 24, 2026 8:22 pm https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/610 ... war-drops/

There were other Republicans that conveyed their skepticism of this being short lived. Democrats would t support it (most) even if it lasted 2 days because of TDS (as they say, Trump could invent cure for cancer & they’d object).
It’s naive to believe this regime considering radical Islam beliefs would EVER give up- chanting “Death to America” and “Death to Israel” it is ingrained in their religious beliefs to rid the world of Jews & Christians- we’ll think- they’ve killed up to 50,000 of their own people who protest their regime!!
So Trump, with his many advisors and obviously watching Iran since his interviews in the 80s- in my opinion- knew what he was up against but perhaps underestimated the Iranian regimes radical Islam mindset-
Prophetically speaking- I know where we are headed eventually- Radical Idlam is not going away.

Valerie, I'm not a defender of radical Islam and the death toll it has laid down, but can't help but notice the death toll of radical "christians" seems equally high. I have a hard time seeing the good guys in battle. What I see is humans made in God's image struggling for things that will never provide the security and prosperity they crave.
This is the second time in my lifetime the US, a so called "Christian" national has attacked and destroyed a Muslim nation because of what they might do in the future. I don't have good answers but I think the truly God fearing should at least question such things rather than defend them.

Back on page seven of this thread you seemed convinced this war take several weeks.

I didn’t say that. I said “they’re “ saying and fervent prayer is needed. I was optimistic but realistic. That’s not the same as “convinced” - I also recognize that our government has access to intelligence there that “we” do not YET you’re dealing with terrorists that have no problem killing their own people- and they have by the thousands upon thousands.
Reagan, and I remember well, won presidency predominantly because Jimmy Carter was too weak to free our hostages in
Iran. It cost Carter his second term-
Trump is a strong, very strong leader & you see the U.N. Recognizes that & he made sure the tmremaining hostages from the terror attract in Israel Oct 7 2023 came home.

I dispute this version of history. The Iranians waited for Reagan because they wanted to embarrass Carter who actually sent an invasion force to recover the hostages. They actually preferred Reagan to Carter.Valerie wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2026 7:57 am Reagan, and I remember well, won presidency predominantly because Jimmy Carter was too weak to free our hostages in

I also dispute your version of a strong leader. I think president Trump is displaying fragile, reactive leadership that lowers the status of the US in the world. When he leaves office the US will be at it's weakest in terms of long term resisting it's largest enemies in my lifetime.

A few comments.
-First about the kingdoms of this world and the wars, God has the ultimate control, not us. And as God fearing people, we are not a part of the kingdoms of this world.
-Second, even though this nation was founded on some Christian principles the United States is not a Christian nation, nor is Trump a "Christian National". There are "Christian Nationals" who support him, but he isn't one, himself.
- Thirdly in the Old Testament there are many instances that God told the nation of Israel to destroy the ungodly, those who followed false gods and idols. How do we know whether God isn't using one nation, (the US), to do that again?

Rather reactive versus not being there at all and having unknown people running the country with an autopen. That fact alone lowered the status of the U.S. in the world.I also dispute your version of a strong leader. An administration causing the United States government to indirectly become the largest sex, human, and drug trafficking entity in the world, through very lax border policies certainly didn't improve the U.S. status in the world.

The difference is mostly due to a lack of competence on the part of radical Islamists, who frequently call for the extermination of Israel.

9/11 and 10/7 weren't just a incident of what "Muslims might do"...they did it.barnhart wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2026 6:28 am Valerie, I'm not a defender of radical Islam and the death toll it has laid down, but can't help but notice the death toll of radical "christians" seems equally high.
