This is not true.Grace wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2026 8:48 am You don't distinguish between illegal immigrants and Immigrants who came to this country legally. And that is a ploy used by the worldly mainstream media. They don't distinguish between the two and accuse those who do not support the lawless entry into this country, as people who are opposed to ALL immigrants. Which isn't true. I am sure that everyone here on Mennonet supports and welcomes the lawful entry of immigrants into this country.

I feel like some one needs to write an irony/satire piece on the American churches concern with missionizing the "unchurched" or "Muslims" or "Catholics" or "smuggling Bibles" and "Stealth Evangelism" etc...while simultaneously embracing a hardline view of immigration. (Exhibit A say Meg Basham or Matt Walsh - as public figures who have made plain their "druthers.")

I am not sure what part of my comment wasn't true. But I am willing to be corrected. And if I missed any posts where someone here on Mennonet may have said that they don't welcome lawful entry of immigrants, I must have missed it.barnhart wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2026 9:21 amThis is not true.Grace wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2026 8:48 am You don't distinguish between illegal immigrants and Immigrants who came to this country legally. The first part is not true and the middle part is (in my eyes) a vast over generalization, likely true of some but certainly not true of others.Grace wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2026 10:01 amI am not sure what part of my comment wasn't true. My position on immigration is very close to the mainstream Republican position in the 80's and 90's. For reference look up the primary debate between Reagan and Bush sr. running for the 1980 Republican nomination, outlining their positions on immigration. I remember lying in bed the night of the 2000 election feeling confident of immigration reform because both candidates were in favor and had pro immigration planks in their platforms. I don't think I have changed much on this issue, the culture around me has moved to a different place and taken the church with it.

You might want to consider the fraud in driving schools hurts illegal aliens, legal aliens, and future potential immigrants.joshuabgood wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2026 10:01 am I feel like some one needs to write an irony/satire piece on the American churches concern with missionizing the "unchurched" or "Muslims" or "Catholics" or "smuggling Bibles" and "Stealth Evangelism" etc...while simultaneously embracing a hardline view of immigration. This quote by you:
I am sorry but I don't see any distinguishing between "illegal" and "legal" immigrants in this comment. Just saying. Is there no end to the things that are blamed on immigrants. Here are some just off the top of my head in the last couple of years here on mennonet.

I wasn't even blaming aliens and immigrants. I would be very concerned about citizens who are native English speakers who also lie, cheat, and bribe they way into getting a CDL, and also be concerned about citizens who have a CDL yet can't comprehend English.

My question didn't differentiate because anti immigrantion angst doesn't either.Grace wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2026 1:05 pm This quote by you:I am sorry but I don't see any distinguishing between "illegal" and "legal" immigrants in this comment. So, what's your position on people who fraudulent hold CDLs (i.e. anyone who holds a CDL who cannot read and understand English), regardless of citizenship, immigration, mother language, etc. status?barnhart wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2026 1:56 pmMy question didn't differentiate because anti immigrantion angst doesn't either.Grace wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2026 1:05 pm This quote by you:I am sorry but I don't see any distinguishing between "illegal" and "legal" immigrants in this comment. Do you think that's OK, or do you consider it a rather corrosive effect on society when we have that kind of mass lawlessness?

How much of a problem is this? And if it is a problem. how much of the problem involves native born Americans who do speak English? Where is there a non-political overview of this that is not geared toward riling people up with Internet angst?JohnH wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2026 3:00 pm So, what's your position on people who fraudulent hold CDLs (i.e. anyone who holds a CDL who cannot read and understand English), regardless of citizenship, immigration, mother language, etc. status?

Can we all just stop being "useful idiots" for worldly factions?

1. Are we discussing the topic? Good.
2. Are we going around and around in a fight? Let's stop doing that.
3. Is there some serious wrongdoing or relational injury? Let's address that, probably not in public and certainly not for show.
