I really want this to come off politely. There is absolutely positive value in much of the literature referenced.
But while I think can learn a lot factually about say the Lutheran church or the Orthodox by reading a book, the entire point of REAL Anabaptism IMHO, is that it is to be lived.

Let me use this analogy. You can learn a LOT about practicing medicine from books.
But to learn to be a surgeon cannot be done without essentially apprenticing yourself to another surgeon and learning with your hands.

I think the core of Anabaptism is living…life. I think of an Old Order H&B family that we know that are the walking, living definition of Christianity. They would have a hard time articulating the precepts of Christianity. NOT because they do not know them, but of their quietness.

Go ahead, read. But as a very well educated person that feels they could learn almost anything from the right book, I say “Go ahead and read, but until you live it, including all the foibles you will make on the way, you will to grasp it.”
